They were supposed to use Qin for the breaststroke part but he's not reliable.

He basically is gonna cost China 4 potential golds. I always knew he was overhyped and could never do it on the big stages.

Meanwhile Pan has swam in so many races in Paris just to gain the experience of the pool so he can conquer it. Unlike Qin he is opposite and made Paris his biatch. He saved the mixed relay but how many times are they gonna rely on him?

I hope he can perform. I was really hoping Qin would come back in form but without that there simply is no more gold in swimming barring some miracle.

If you use Dong for breast, then are you leaving out Xu in the backstroke? Surely you can’t leave out Pan in the freestyle. I think the current composition is best with Xu to start and get ahead to give clear water for Tang. Then Zhang. Hope the women don’t fall behind by too much before handing off to Pan for the final leg. When China has won this event at the world champs, Xu has always put China in the lead. Then it was Qin for the breast followed by the ladies for the final 2 legs. Maybe the idea being create a big lead with the men and hope the ladies can bring it home.

Breaststroke has the biggest time difference between male and female. Probably due to difference in chest size and arm span. There's a reason teams use a guy to do it. If there was no Pan, China would be out of the finals already.

it seem like the reduction in specific events also affected japan. They are trying reduce medals for China and japan?

I really hope it's not a 2016 Olympic performance for China overall.That was really embarrassing.
