Just a gut feel as an old fan. Chinese badminton athletes are just not really dominant anymore. I think the best chance is in mixed doubles and women's doubles. Men's singles Shi Yuqi was promising like...6 years ago but is not really top class material anymore, Women's singles Chen Yufei is still decent but past her prime, men's doubles pair are just pretty weak
Shi actually has a renaissance recently. He is close to unbeatable. After watching the Sudirman Cup he is playing very very confidently. Olympics though is a different beast of a competition so that’s why I had him at 30% only to avoid disappointment. Cuz the danish defending champion unless injury issues plays well in big tournament.

Chen will have a tough time beating world No. 1 An of Korea but against everyone else she should have upper hand. So my hopeful predic is even both dun get gold, a medal is very likely.

If you want to attend an Olympic Games in person without supporting the US economy, you could fly to LA on a Chinese airline, stay at a house owned by a Chinese-American powered by off-grid Chinese solar panels and BYD energy storage systems, and eat exclusively at Chinese restaurants during your stay.
Just theoretically speaking, how would I find such a house? Is there some kind of website listing chinese americans? Lmao

US had 3 golds in shooting and has no medal so far. US is actually not doing as well as they had.
2 of their 3 golds were in skeet, and there are 3 skeet events this year which haven't started

The US is definitely not the gold medal favorite for the 50 m men's freestyle (Cameron McEvoy of Australia is the favorite), 100 m men's butterfly (Leon Marchand is the favorite), and 1500 m men's freestyle (Daniel Wiffen of Ireland is the favorite). I'm not sure about the relays, but the 200 m men's IM and the 200 m women's IM will be close and the US has a good chance of getting the gold medal in those events.

I'm getting my information from this website:

If you look at the 200 m men's IM times for this season, Wang Shun has the fastest time. That's why I think he's a legitimate gold medal contender.
Imo
50m is very chaotic. A lot of predictions get thrown out cuz the margin is so close. A lot of them have almost same chances so it depends on race day.

200IM, wang shun in the prelims seems to be swimming quite laboured to me, could be a tactic I dun know. But French freak should be the hot fave. He is on a roll. He has home ground advantage. Wang is on the old side now. Hope I’m wrong and Wang surprises me. I believe this is his only event and not taking part in relays. So he should have energy for this.

I checked the recent betting odds and French dude is at 1.22 while Wang is at 9.5. Any pro China gamblers out there if Wang wins you will make a huge windfall lol

On Airbnb, you can contact homeowners to ask if they're Chinese. It'd be a bit painstaking but you could definitely find a room at a suitable property owned by a Chinese-American. If you don't want to give money to Airbnb, then you could ask around on Xiaohongshu, Reddit, Facebook, etc. There are many Chinese-Americans on Xiaohongshu. On Google, you could find a ton of Chinese-American realtors/owners who could help you find a place to stay for a couple of weeks. I prefer Chinese landlords, so I've done this before myself

Cheng Meng is an axe murderer with that ping pong paddle. She has beaten almost everyone 4-0 in the entire tournament; she has literally lost a combined 2 sets in 5 games and not to the same person. I recall seeing a video of her training as a cute little child with a pugsy droopy face literally crying but slamming that paddle back and forth, each shot on point. Her facial expression and the way she plays just says, "I hate being here; I hate you; I hate table tennis and I'm gonna beat your bloody ass into the ground before all the fans are even seated so I can go home early with my goddamn medal."
US had 3 golds in shooting and has no medal so far. US is actually not doing as well as they had.
They took 2 golds in fencing though and they had none in Tokyo.

Even they are Chinese, they could be traitors. While I have relatives in La that I can stay with but it is a hassle to go to Olympics.

. She has four Gold medals to date across Tokyo (100m Backstroke, 200m Backstroke, 4x100m Medley Relay) and Paris (100m Backstroke). Keep them coming! Ok, fanboy mode off...

She's the gold medal favorite for sure. She's cute, but I think Mollie O'Callaghan is cuter haha

Anyway, the 4x100m mixed medley relay should be exciting. Zhang Yufei, Xu Jiayu, Pan Zhanle, and Tang Qianting is quite a strong lineup.

I was watching team on china badminton, table tennis, diving and hockey on 4 different screens.

It’s the First time I’ve noticed the table table venue actually not resembling a Chinese home ground lol. Cuz Fan is playing against the home favourite. But I think the chinese support in the stadium is still marginally louder than the French.

the weirdest thing that stood out is in hockey though. China vs Germany. the stadium actually fully packed. Anyone knows why? The last few matches I saw the stadium was always almost completely empty. Even the French vs Japanese match yesterday.

Chinese team in 3m synchronised diving is trailing after 4 rounds.

Damn it’s close. China now lead by just 1 point going to final round.
