I hope Pan's win givea the swimming team more confidence. How many more races does China have left that they can get gold? Qin Haiyang choked on two golds.

If China can get 3 golds like last time at Tokyo then I guess that will do. After all the west is trying to sabotage the guys.

There has definitely been disappointment in swimming, particularly Qin Haiyang's performance. But in men's gymnastics, the odds had always favored Japan for gold in both the team and all around. China getting silver (not to mention also bronze) in the individual all around is already better than expected.

Nah, China were the favourites in the men’s team event. And Zhang in the all round. Missing out the gold in both definitely was disappointing especially how it transpired in the finals.

Zheng Qinwen came from a set down to beat German player Kerber who will retire after this, she had a great career



China mixed doubles also advanced to semi finals. A medal in tennis would be historic. They beat the seeded number 2 Aus pair.

I’d rather China reinvent itself and get bronze and silver in new events like BMX/Skiing than go for the hundredth Table Tennis gold medal which requires no real effort because they are so dominant.

Gold and World Record in the 100m freestyle in the Olympics final is the greatest achievement in swimming. Individual 100m freestyle is the blue ribbon event people watch and remember. Its to decide the fastest swimmer in the world. It’s like the 100m sprint in athletics to decide the fastest man in the world. If there is one gold medal to win in swimming, it is this one.

Seems like France is really doing well this olympics lol. Second overall for medals and second place for gold medals so far. Very impressive showing.
