Damn. Mens team gymnastics final is probably the worst result to bear. The swimming, archery, basketball results were tough to take but this one takes the cake. Gold was practically in theirs hands after 5 rotations.
Against their hated rivals Japan. Only 1 final rotation left. With a huge lead. They just needed to not make big mistakes. Alas the last minute substitute for an injured regular member choked big time and fell twice from high bar.
This is going to make my already bad day worse.

Poor guy, hope he doesn't get roasted by netizens too harshly. It's tough to see them falling behind during the last event, but a tough battle for gold with Japan was always to be expected, it's not like the result was a completely unexpected upset. China and Japan are basically evenly matched in men's gymnastics and have been for the past two decades.
ok so that was the reason. A substitute was competing in place of an injured regular member. ok this is more acceptable than if one of the regular members made some mistakes. Wow I was sitting here so depressed, now I feel a lot better. It's ok guys, it's only one medal. there are many other gymnastics events up for grabs, so in the end, they all weigh the same in terms of medal count. Let's hope our guys and girls can get some other medals. My goal is 2 for the men and 1 for the women. No Simone Biles in the uneven bars.
That is a big miss. Team and individual are the two most coveted golds in gymnastics. Frustrating loss with a decent lead.
Silver for Xu Jiayu swimming 100m backstroke
Both of them got silver medals.
Two silvers at swimming has shown even with sabotage, China can still perform very well. They just need to have a bit more at the final to get that gold.
