You cannot do better than that. To be at the top, you should earn most medals in the sport with the most number of events, in this case athletics. We only got 1 gold out of about 60 events. The fact that we tied already a miracle.
I mean they could have just one more gold in swimming, gymnastics or even speed climbing and China would have won.
Notice how America is so close now when they ONLY got 8 medals in swimming. Thats why whoever wins swimming in this race gets it all.

40 Golds for China now. 4 events for US remaining. Volleyball, Wrestling, Cycling and women's basketball. Will US mess up 3 of them? We shall see

Considering how Russia has been unfairly banned from the olympics and Israel isn’t, well at the very least China can fight on Russia behalf and prove that we can stand strong no matter whatNow that women can bump me anytime of the day.
