Some random thoughts on 2024 Paris Olympics.

Looking at the above table and it is dawned on me that Australia's quality of living and economic well-being is ahead of the rest in the west outside US. I visited Australia twice. It feels clean and nice. With unlimited natural resources and inside RCEP, it really enjoys the best of both worlds. IIRC it is said that Australia has not encountered an economic crisis for over 29 years. The number one contributor to Australia's economic prosperity is China in the last 3 decades. Rocks, literally ...

If there is any illusion as why US wants to contain China, the above table illustrates the reason(s) figuratively. It is not idealogical; it is not personal. It is all about money.

Russia should have been right up there if allowed in this Olympics. Again this table illustrates the Russian conundrum: it wants to join the west; the west dislikes it. Russia is forced to ally with China ...

The WADA vs USADA saga is yet another living example that there are only 3 real independent countries in the world: US, China, Russia.

The man-punches-woman saga reals the state of political correctness in the west, while UK is in chaos.

I still vividly remember the nation-wide enthusiasm during 1984 LA Olympics and 1988 Soul Olympics. It is surreal staring at the above table ......

Andd..... 36th in diving

Clean sweep of 8 medals for diving this year (and table tennis soon hopefully)

If the Japanese did not flop the 5th dive he would be gold. This is where Cao Yuan's experience came in

In fact, upon checking this is the first time China has ever swept diving. All other Olympics have at least 1 gold that got lost. Great job Cao Yuan for breaking the curse

Damn. Unless the female table tennis team and Li WenWen completely mess up, China is set to have 38 golds MINIMUM which is the same as Tokyo. If Boxing gets gold thats 39.
And if synchro swimming gets it it will be 40

China needs every gold it can get, to prepare for the final onslaught of US golds from athletics and team sports. They technically still have around 10 totally possible golds

The girl who battle with Wang Manyu is actually sister of the Haritomo guy, both parents are Chinese. To have a chance with the Chinese, you must be Chinese, simple.
Is it just me or does Miwa Harimoto look really Japanese? I've noticed that a lot of people from central China (Sichuan, Jiangnan) look similar to Japanese people.
