Gigachad wins 102 kg weightlifting.

A new development. Now westoids can't say China is bad at heavier weight classes.

Honestly I was pessimistic on this Olympics originally coz we choked more gold than tokyo unnecessarily. But I liked this Olympics better than Tokyo now and realized I was wrong.

The most important thing is not number of golds. It's breakthroughs. Swimming, tennis, heavyweight wrestling and weightlifting. New breakthroughs

Gigachad Liu Huanhua is first Chinese heavyweight to earn a gold medal at the Olympics! His first opponent, the Tokyo 96kg Olympic Champion Fares Elbakh of Qatar bowed out early by bombing the snatch. He opened too high at 178kg and hurt his elbow. After that, the main danger is Tokyo 109kg Olympic Champion Akbar Djuraev of Ukbekistan. Djuraev is a taller lifter and he is spectacular at 109; he has lifted much much more than Liu before. He is so dominant in the 109 category, he is nicknamed King Akbar. But his body can't tolerate the weight loss to 102 and he sheds way too much strength. This competition just confirms that he cannot transition down to 102 while preserving an elite level. Congrats to Liu.

China's last weightlifting comp is tomorrow in the women's super heavyweight division when Li Wenwen will attempt to become double Olympic champion. She is regarded as the safest gold medal bet in any category.

The funny thing is Gigachad won and he didn't even do his best. He really wanted to break the records just to prove a point.
He did his best. He put everything he had today but missed 233 for the world record. It was too much for him today. If he passed his last lift and went off to celebrate, which many weigthlfiters do, then he didn't do his best.

Actually Gigachad is known on the Chinese weightlifting team for always giving 110%. When Coach Yujie says 3 sets, he goes for 4. When Coach Yujie says 200kg, he goes for 210kg. They have to stop him all the time from overloading himself to the point of injury because he just always wants to give his absolute best and more.

Western athletes expect to be paid by the Olympics now because they can't afford the costs of what it takes to get to the Olympics. At what age do they expect the checks to be sent to them because it doesn't happen overnight and it doesn't guarantee they'll succeed in the end. So what about all the athletes especially from other countries that aren't good enough to win? Do they get paid too? See the fraud that's going to happen and that's why their solution is only athletes of Western countries get paid and would benefit from all the advantages. And that's why it's never going to happen. What you have here are white people wanting a welfare system created for them. All you have to do is say to yourself when you're a kid, I want to be an Olympic athlete and win gold medals when I grow up and that's all it takes to get yourself on the payroll from then on. It's going to cost more than $1.7 billion. Maybe the Olympics can partner with Onlyfans or they can create their own version so they can make money. Yeah and then looks and not athletics will be the most important thing at the Olympics which will cut out all the countries Westerners don't see as pretty to them. The West can forget about hoping to graduate more STEM students when every American will be riding this gravy train.
So I was right then after all with my comment regarding some of the Olympians resorting to "ONLY FANS"

China gold prospects remaining (Currently at 34)

High chance
1 in table tennis
1 in diving
1 in synchro swimming
1 in weightlifting

Possible golds:
~1 in boxing (75kg)

Estimated final golds are ~38 up to 39
Only a few long shot chances left in canoeing, taekwondo, golf, wrestling etc

US (currently 33) has:
2 x relays are definitely US gold unless they screw up baton passing again, but in 400m that's more unlikely
2 x basketballs are definitely US gold
1 x hurdles(?) > I remember someone saying there is one more solid event for US

After this they will already have 38 matching China

At this point they still have ~5 not-guaranteed but pretty high chance events:
1 in women's volleyball, ~1 in women's football, 1 in women's omnium, ~1 in wrestling 65/97kg, ~1 in men's breakdance (lol)

Slightly better odds now that C1 women's 200 is gone, but still low chances for China to overtake especially after that hockey gold was robbed

China will need to win the boxing final (and maybe golf) AND US needs to screw up at least ~3 events. So just temper your expectations a bit.
