我操!A 10 kilo lead in just the snatch! I had my doubts, but it's looking like Shi's in great shape for Paris this year. If I recall correctly, he's hit up to 200kg in training before, but up until now he hasn't really needed to go all out since he'd smoke his opposition long before that. Rizki's one of the few in the world that can let us see Shi at full power. I'd wager the competition still leans heavily towards China in the C&J though, since Shi has plenty left in the tank if he starts from 190 (iirc, his training max is slightly north of 200 as well), which already puts Rizki near his limits at 201. But Rizki's always been a bit of a wild card, and it's not impossible for him to suddenly pull a 205 or something out of nowhere, now that would be something to see.

Either way, it'll be spectacular, maybe the most exciting category this year imo.

That would have been correct 6 years ago when Shi was in his prime (maybe 202 but 205 is out of reach). He would have beat that boy's ass without a doubt. Now, he's old (a full decade older than Rizki) and he's recovering from back problems. The clean and jerk has become his weakness compared to the Indonesians. Last time, a few months back in Thailand at the final qualifier, he was at 191. If he's still there, the gold is in doubt. If he's recovered to 194-195, then I'd say the chances favor Shi significantly.

You're right, we're past the age of Shi walking on stage and mogging everyone with his first attempts. But I'm still cautiously optimistic, since his opening C&J is going to be 193kg as of this post. If he's opening with a weight that'll force Rizki to go up to his Thailand 204 to win gold, I'd wager he's feeling very confident right now about his strength and condition for tonight. In that case, I feel Rizki's going to have a really, really tough time tonight.

Edit: it was 191, oh shit
