Greco Roman ends today with one Silver for Cao Liguo and One Bronze for heavyweight Meng Lingzhe.

In an ideal world I would prefer it to be one gold from Cao and Meng is at least fighting for gold. But at least there is progress. China has an Olympic medalist at the highest weight class in wrestling. That's a huge breakthrough for people who say we can't have big guys in grappling.

Now let's root for the remains of athletics and boxing.

Edit: as expected Mijain Lopez won easily making him 5 time Olympic champion in heavyweight Greco Roman. He then finally retired. Maybe next time Meng can now finally go for gold properly if he's still around.

any gold chances for China in taekwondo? Historically China is the second most successful nation in Taekwondo after Korea.

In the case of Shayna Jack if I recall correctly one of the excuses it was blamed on someone in the Australian swimming organization giving her "by accident" the PED that was found in her system to claim how she was innocent. When they accuse Chinese swimmers, it because it's accused of being systematic by Chinese hence why all of them are considered guilty whether they tested positive or not. Someone in the Australian swimming authority gives their athlete a PED so they can say they didn't know it happened and no one assumes it's only just the one...? Michael Phelps was caught with marijuana in his system with no suspicion yet another US athlete in track and field did not go to the Tokyo Games because she tested positive for marijuana...

How will Phelps exclude himself from his one and done penalty? Because he didn't get caught before the Olympics...? I bet he will be against taking away medals retroactively.

Michael Phelps was caught driving under the influence in 2014. He should never be allowed to drive again.

Pretty disappointed with long jump performance considering Wang won the world championship back in 2022. It seems he can never perform well on the big stages that truly matter.

Guess China need to invest more in athletics as well. Not just swimming.

I just looked at the world taekwondo rankings: on the mens side CHina is not too impressive. but on the womens side, China has the number one woman in 3 of the 4 weight classes. This bode well? lol.

Chen Yuxi still got a gold, alongside Quan Hongchan for the synchronized diving. I understand though and agree it might be frustrating to almost always be 2nd in individual events.
I'm cases where Chinese athletes win both the silver and gold, I believe the silver medalist should receive same treatment as the gold medalist.

Up next is one female boxing and one men's Greco Roman wrestling. Not much chance of gold but we can still pray. People don't even expect to see China in the finals in these sports so already that's proving them wrong.
I was under the impression that China has always been fairly competitive in Olympic boxxing?
