Pretty sure China can pump out carriers like sausages if she wants to. She is not doing that due to the need to test new tech and lack of experience personnel.
Seems they can easily drop 4-6 type75/76 in a 5 year period. I wonder if they purposely built the type76 as a straight deck "LHA" rather than a angle deck so as not to be too provocative during this period.
Doubt the Chinese leadership cares about what other countries think. I’m sure 076 is a straight deck because of PLAN doctrine.

Just take the thought that type 076 is an LHS with enhanced air power (then some people would feel happy), rather than a down-graded 40,000 ton aircraft cariier with compromised capability vs normal aircraft carrier (and other people would feel miserable).
Take a neutral view, it is the first ship of a new type of amphibious assault ship in the World with catapult for self carrying air support. It is neither an aircraftcarrier nor under the defination of the current LHA classification in the West..
The bow looks to be bigger than the 056/A FFLs and even that 2000-ton LO integrated test and evaluation platform. The forward superstructure looks to be quite close to the bow as well (if those dark brown structures are indeed part of the ship).
Three possibilities:
1. A new type of larger FFL (meant to complement/succeed the 056/A FFL family);
2. A new integrated test and evaluation platform; or
3. Second batch(?) of 054B FFG (though I rate this to be the least likely among all three possibilities).
Besides, it appears that one or more of the 056A FFLs are upgrading their radars, and a few of what looks to be smaller-sized USVs under construction as well. Interesting find, nonetheless.

Judging by how SOYO described said ship in the post (larger and wider than the 056/A FFL, have more diesel engines onboard than the 056/A FFL), said ship is likely to be a successor to the 056/A FFL family.
Or it could also be for export. Of course, the exact identity of the ship is very much up in the air as of now.
