So, this ship should be pretty large relative to 056. Dimensions should be longer than 105m long and a beam larger than 12m. This ship is possibly equipped with a bow/hull sonar coupled with where this ship is built means this ship probably is not a CCG vessel. Will still use diesel but instead of two sets on the 056, this ship might use 4 so much higher total power will be available. Due to its size, systems like VLS or large caliber cannon remains unlikely. If this ship is not heavily armed it could possibly have enough deck space for a Z-20 unlike the 056 series which can only support a Z-9.

New corvette?

Unlikely. With the new diesels in the Type 054B you can make a twin diesel ship to replace 056 with over 50% more displacement. That would allow the larger helicopter space and more weapons.
With those modern diesels you can make a twin engine ship with up to 3000t displacement.

Unlikely in... that this is not a corvette? Or do you think the engine arrangement is bad

I think it will be a twin engine diesel like 056, just much larger, there is no need for four engines.

It is fairly easy to think how the next generation ships will look like I think.

You will have a twin diesel corvette, a quad diesel frigate, and a twin diesel with single or dual gas turbine. They will replace 056, 054, 052.

Of those ships the quad diesel frigate 054B is already out. I think the others are a question of time.

It is just that it makes sense to use a common set of propulsion elements for logistics reasons. The Type 054B already uses the new more powerful diesels, so this 056B or whatever, will likely also use them except two instead of four.

But do note that 054B is likely dead, they are building something else right now, probably the replacement to the entire 054 series.

They're assessing it, be patient. Remember it's 3 year between type 054 and 054A, or nearly a decade between 052C and 052D, and it's just less than a year since 054B

No, there are credible rumor already that another class of ships is already under construction. It's far more likely to be a FFG than DDG. Read back on this thread.

I do know that rumors, but until a definite image or satelite image is up, it's still rumor. Right now all we see is a bow of an unknown ship
