I did say capital ships, like carriers and LHAs. Otherwise I agree, China could probably still pump out escorts in great numbers, though it still probably would not reach American WW2 DD/DDE numbers.

Maybe during WW2, the ships were simple and easy to build. Therefore, they are able to pump out ships quickly.

Pretty sure China can pump out carriers like sausages if she wants to. She is not doing that due to the need to test new tech and lack of experience personnel.
