Huawei continued to look STUPID
Last week huawei paid qualcomm $1.8 billion to settle their differences hoping qualcomm will sell its chips due to Kirin processors not able to be manufactured by TSMC

Huawei thought US government only wants to stop hisilicon. Wrong. US government wants huawei to die.

Today US government announced no companies can sell chips to huawei using US equipments for manufacturing. Thats means No qualcomm , No Mediatek for Huawei. Huawei immediate plan got destroyed and look Stupid by paying that $1.8billion. That money better used for R&D and second hand equipments. But its in their DNA for instant gratification by using others ready to use components. It was hoping US government would allow it. Not a chance. Its amazing huawei still harboring this type of get lucky type of mentality. Ita really Stupid

Huawei is not in the business of making semiconductor machines, just like Apple and Ericsson are not. If you claim Huawei is stupid, you might also say Apple and Ericsson are stupid by not making their own chip machines and semiconductors.

Keep on spinning. What does your words even mean. Is huawei getting qualcomm chips yes or no?
US government says no today.

Dont tell story. Give me a link that huawei for sure gets qualcomm chips.
Huawei paid for Qualcomm 3G and 4G patents. All 5G chips need to be backward compatible with 3G and 4G standards. This means the Chinese can make the chips that they want if they can use all Chinese machines. There is no one saying they will buy from Qualcomm.

Americans broke the Japs codes during WWII but strategically entered it after Pearl Harbor to captialize on the end of WWII setting up the Brenton Woods... Then in the 70's when the dollar looked like it was gonna fall apart Nixon took it off the gold standard but substituted it for OPEC and hence the petrodollar was born. Now China is OPEC's biggest importer and also the world's largest trading partner, US needs another trick and this time it was going to be getting everyone on digital dollar... so it couldn't let China beat it to the punch with Huawei 5G, Chinese smartphones, and apps like WeChat Pay, Alibaba payments and even TikTok was a threat since it was already widely adopted in the US/West and could easily be enchance to support payment and the digital Yuan blockchain etc... This is not just about 5G for instrastructure, if you look at why US is blocking Huawei, TikTok, WeChat, and now Trump says Alibaba next, it makes perfect sense, this is about battle for the world's future global currency and American will do anything to make sure China doesn't make headways into it...
It does not make sense at all what you are saying that blocking Chinese companies that have very limited US operations will ensure the USD remains the key currency.

If digital payments were done in the United States, they still would be in US Dollars and not RMB.

The question of the key currency that people and businesses accept, is not based on tricks. It is based on confidence and usage.

I am pretty sure this forum has members who know people who are rich. Now ... do you think the 1% are tricked this easily about matter regarding their money?

Never.

Impossible.

China has mastered the technology to produce high purity fluorine-containing electron gas needed in integrated circuits.

This is good news for all the aging societies in the world.
Chinese experts identify biomarker for early detection of Alzheimer's disease
BEIJING, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese experts have identified a biomarker that can facilitate the early detection and intervention of Alzheimer's disease (AD), about five to seven years in advance.

AD is an irreversible, progressive brain disorder that slowly destroys memory, thinking skills and the ability to carry out simple tasks.

Experts from the Beijing-based Xuanwu Hospital of the Capital Medical University found that blood neuro-exosomal synaptic proteins can be a promising biomarker for AD.

According to Jia Jianping, leader of the research team and a professor at Xuanwu Hospital, at present, there is no effective drug that can cure AD.

Many drugs for AD have failed in clinical trials. The main reason could be that the subject's disease is at a late stage, he said.

Jia and his team collected a total of 739 subjects by following people who had normal cognitive function between five and seven years ago and found that blood neuro-exosomal synaptic proteins could be used as biomarkers to predict AD five to seven years in advance.

"Effective diagnosis of early or asymptomatic AD can gain time for early intervention, increasing the effectiveness of treatment and reducing the incidence of the disease," said Jia.

The research was published in the journal Alzheimer's & Dementia.

At least 50 million people worldwide have dementia and AD is the root cause behind 60 percent to 70 percent of the cases, according to the World Health Organization.

This is news that is important.

SMIC may manage to make progress to 7nm, but it's completely irrelevant unless it's done with indigenous equipment. Some random company may design a new chip, but it's completely irrelevant if it cannot be fabricated on domestic equipment.

They need to spin off hisilicon or create a couple of independent chip designer companies. Then smic can make chips for them using their 7nm process.

Your oversimplifying, just because you ban ASML employees doesn't mean your machine will work. Plus,

Couls something like this be hypothetically useful for x ray lithography as a light source?:
Look at the power output of EUV light sources used in photolithography. Then increase that by maybe 30% (depending on the wavelength of the x-ray). That’s roughly the amount of power you would need for an x-ray source to generate the same number of photons as an EUV source appropriate for a lithography scanner.

And, no, no one is going to build a mile long particle accelerator for each scanner. This approach doesn’t scale for industrial purposes.
