Hmmm ... quite interesting CG as this could maybe be the first "realistic" CG of an improved J-10.

Anyway: Can't wait to see more real J-10 pictures as it's a very long time ago since the last new one.

Thanks for posting (found at the Key.forum posted by HK dragon), Deino :D

Those are life vests. There's no such thing as an upper body G-suit. The whole idea is to apply pressure to the lower body (legs, lower ab) to "squeez" the blood back into upper body. You can't really combat negative-Gs.

Very true. I was an aircrew survival equipmenman for 9 of the 20 years I was in the navy. G-suits just keep the blood from rushing to the head so ya' won't pass out. The PLAAF flight gear is very diffrent from the US. Those life vest are too bulky in my opinion.

I've never know a pilot in the USN to fly without his g-suit. It just does not happen. If he did he would be grounded...The USN Blue Angels do however fly without g-suits from time to time.

Nah, still backwards

You are right again..I mistated myself. I should know better:eek:

Sorry....

In most of the pics I see of PLAAF pilots and ground crew the pictures all appear to be "staged". You know ..pilots marching out to their aircraft. The ground crew standing in formations. Is this truely representive of the PLAAF or is just for "show"? Anyone know?

I know in the USN the only squadron that does this sort of routine is the "Blue Angels". I assume the USAF "Thunderbirds" do the same.

The G-suit defers the blackout/redout effects, but pilots will still feel the same effects but later. Thunderbirds and Blue Angel are flying without it because the G-suit inconveniences pilot for manoeuvers (had effects on strenghen of the pilot), and without it, they do better their manoeuver.

G-Suits have no effect on redouts. You simply can't squeez pilots' heads or restrict their upper body. They have to breath, you know.

It's definitely one of the older prototypes/pre-serials "1013" and if my memory is correct this picture has been posted - or at least that scene - from a slightly different angle !

Cheers, Deino :D
