Look at the raised canopy on the back of the pilot. Note the strip that runs on top of it. That's a communications antenna. All J-10s have this, and the same system is used and present on the FC-1 prototypes. You can check for any number of J-10 pictures that are close and clear enough to see the canopy and you will see this antenna.
okay cool, actually I was wondering whether it's for datalinking or for something else.

I think crobato's right. It looks much more like how a comms antenna may be placed. But I wonder why they put it along the canopy? As far as datalinking between aircraft at medium ranges, it may be possible.

At any rate, nice pics of the J-10 here.

On the back of the J-10, along the spine near the canopy, you see something like an antenna sticking out. Likely to be the antenna this time for a datalink. Chinese designers seem to like placing them there, as you see similar antennas on J-7s, J-8IIs and even the FC-1.

Are you sure that's an antenna and not linear explosive charges? I do admit a single tube seems rather skimpy for such purpose.

He's not going to fly that airplane. He does not have on all his flight gear. I mean where's his G-suit?.Those gloves are too bulky....He may just be a pilot doing some ground checks.

Some years ago I saw a TV interview of an USAF pilot, who ejected over the ocean and survived. It's been a while so details a bit fuzzy in memory. I think the aircraft was F-15 and he was flying out of Florida. I recall the pilot mentioned that he wasn't doing high-altitude fight that day, so he did not have a full pressure suit on. After he ejected and was recovered, his cheeks were puffy for a month.

It's possible that the Chinese pilot was scheduled for a "casual" demonstration flight and did not need to wear a protective pressure-suit?

See these guys in JH-7A's...
Are their G-suits on the top (the orange vest) or are they not wearing it? Common sense says the orange vest is a life jacket because most JH-7s fly out to sea

While in the next picture in Su-30MKK's

Their G-suits are on the pants and they aren't wearing the orange vests... YET they are wearing "bulky" gloves
My point is you don't need a G-suit when your just going to take the plane up and flying it to show a bunch of TV reporters or to another location
Or he might just be doing PR and climbing in the plane to show CCTV... but why does he have the gloves on...?

Those are life vests. There's no such thing as an upper body G-suit. The whole idea is to apply pressure to the lower body (legs, lower ab) to "squeez" the blood back into upper body. You can't really combat negative-Gs.

YET they are wearing "bulky" gloves

I wouldn't call them bulky. Actually, they look more like just regular work gloves. Flight gloves in the States tend to be much more robust (and bulky) looking than those.

I know what a G-suit is, I was just pointing this out to Popeye; A pilot does not need a G-suit on them if they are just going to fly around and not pull any enormous amounts of G's.

Again I said they were BULKY to phrase it like what Popeye said

swimmerXC, my apologies. ;)

To help with your argument, here's another tidbit, veteran fighter pilots sometimes don't fly with g-suits. They claim that the g-suits dull their senses. Aerial demo teams are notorious for this.
