Hmmm, so salyut makes rd-93s? i thought those were klimov engines. Or is UMPO the maker of rd-93s? Who makes il-76 engines? And how come engines (and spares) for il-76 arent already a part of the whole deal, coming with the aircraft?

The 1 billion engine deal is for the entire country, not just Salyut alone. As we noted in the article, UFA/UMPO is mentioned.

In February 2005, Kanwa reported that J10B had very successful flight tests, and all the planned flight test programs were completed in 2004 while the finalized production plan would start in 2005. In December 2005, Chinese official media claimed that China’s “key model trainer aircraft” (J10B) project passed the final design assessment in the year 2005 after five years of R&D and small batch production is now under way ahead of the schedule.

I'll confirm that article appeared before. As I noted earlier in another thread, (inventory tally) I have heard this before. As far as I know, Al-31fm1 is not in production yet.
al-31fn-fm1 and al-31fm1 are not the same, they use separate production lines. They were saying in that JDW that FN-FM1 was finishing testing in December or something like that and that will be the new standard for AL-31FN.

What??!! is there any evidence in the photo that suggests that this location is actually chengdu? Is there an article included that says so?

looking at the gray skies, this place might be chengdu. But thats not nearly enough evidence to substantiate.

Chengdu has a US embassy doesn't it? That blue building in the back ground looks like where they house the J-10 and JH-7A but I doubt the PLA would just let them land there, even for diplomatic reasons. It's probably just Chengdu Shuangliu International or a PSed.
