GAC Aion unveils amorphous alloy electric motor, which they claim to have world’s highest power efficiency (98.5%), highest power density (13kw/kg), and highest RPM (30000) among all mass produced ev motors.

Axial flux motor's efficiency is 96-97% efficient and is expensive to make. If GAC Aion's can be made cheaper, it will be a strong selling point.

Christ that’s expensive. If they’re planning to sell in Canada (where they are far less likely to trust a Chinese vehicle) they need to watch the price.
If a place doesn't trust Chinese vehicles, sales will start low either way, and low price just reinforce people's pre-conceptions.
Set prices high, but offer better car than similar priced vehicle, focus on brand, sales can come later.

If you know so much, then can you explain the rationale and why it's a mistake?

anyways, Stelato S9 with 8000 confirmed orders after 20 days

BYD is relying on resellers in these areas as well as dealing with import and value added taxes. The resellers will of course want a cut to cover their import fees as well as profit. Depending on how BYD negotiated their contract they may or may not have put a cap on end customer price. Now with the inflated pricing, BYD as a new Chinese brand will have to compete against not only established brands, but at a price point where they aren't that far off from the established player pricing. There's already been complaints on their pricing in Europe being too high.

My question to you, is why are you so defensive about it.

Comparable to RAV4 Prime

Starting at... *trumpet sounds*
$54K CAD

Includes AWD

Compared to Ford Escape PHEV
Starts at $42K
FWD only

Honda CR-V
Pure ICE: $36K-39K FWD/AWD
mild Hybrid AWD: $48K

So depending how you look at it, not more expensive than the competition, but of course you have to account for the new brand factor.

Why bother with a "consultation" when you are just going to follow the US like a loyal dog?
Waste of taxpayer's money.

This would be all well and good if we were actually going to make affordable EVs, but we are just gonna be making shit no one can afford.
