A bloodbath.

What's interesting to me is that Chinese people are not averse to foreign brands (unlike Japanese people). They were fine with buying foreign cars in the ICE era. The reason why foreign firms are declining now is simply that their offer isn't competitive.

But will the West draw the right conclusions and up their game or will they create another fake narrative about "China hostile to Western biz"? I suspect it will be the latter.

Then they will keep on losing. Until they wake up and address their lack of competitiveness then that will continue to happen, and China is an important market.

5 years too late. There's just no hunger in these companies anymore. Too busy selling $100K trucks in a walled-off garden that's the American car market.

On the other hand, it's been 3 months since May and I haven't really seen BYD Europe in the news all that much. Doesn't seem like they're making much progress in EU in terms of sales.

Today I had the chance to sit in Exeed RX a freind bought recently. He was in market for Mercedes, ended up with Exeed :). All the bells and whistles being offered in Exeed Rx were available for 2x/3x prices by Merc and Lexus. I could literally turn the seat into lazy boy with massage :D. The looks and all the features at that price point were amazing..forget NEVs, I see a cold blooded massacre happening in the ICE category. On top of that, the trade terms are just mind blowing, service, insurance the warranty, road side service are 3x/4x vs the higher priced competition!

On things that can be improved:
- Voice recognition (in English) needs some work done, it was not always very accurate and often the software didnt know when the user has stopped querying it so i'd just randomly start repeating 'Could not understand' or something 5x-6x times, was wierd.

- UI is ~~, I think it can be improved.

- The drive isnt that 'heavy and sturdy' with that feeling of 'heft' that you'd expect from car this size. Even tho, the engine provides great pick up, responsiveness, and torque but perhaps a bigger engine may be able to provide that. Not sure how to explain this, im not a big car expert. Maybe it's the shocks?

But all in all, China has 'arrived' even when it comes to ICE vehicles.

Re: BYD/Pakistan.
In less developed markets like Pakistan (the above review isnt from there), I personally feel light and low cost PHEVs would be a great fit where fuel price sensitivity is extremely high and in parallel, there is great solar panels penetration due to falling prices. Literally everyone who has a stand-alone house is putting solar panels. The moment batteries become cheaper, with longer lives and more robust in hot weather, I wont be surprised to see most people going off the grid with how fucked up and unsustainable some of the Power plant agreements are, its at this point just blatant exploitation and sooner or later it will impact the investors, tho, they're basically making tons of money even if they dont produce any electricity and primarily the blame is on the govt.

Rising tide lifts all boats. As domestic EVs improve domestic ICEs have to up their ante too to stay competitive.
