BYD BEVs vs PHEVs sales. Clearly, PHEVs are winning on larger cars and BEVs on smaller cars

Seagull killing competition in mini cars

Surprised at the pure EV adoption numbers when there's a PHEV option. I would think PHEV is almost always preferable for its flexibility. I would only choose pure EV I lived in a city like Shanghai where they only give free plates to pure EVs.

Sales are great but despite all the hype about CATL and BYD battery market share how come it seems it doesn't translate into pricing or range, or efficiency advantage when compared with all the other rando brands. Tesla comes out much better with efficiency for a similarly priced model 3. The Ioniq 6 is also similarly priced and has a higher combined WLTP range. How is BYD competitive? Genuinely asking because it's obviously selling reasonably well.

I can't speak to BYD, but even the most expensive Tesla model has extremely cheap and low quality interiors and probably one of the worst suspensions of any vehicle I have been in. A new base model Toyota or Honda has vastly superior quality interiors and suspension by comparison.

Pretty sure most of those are still using nickel based batteries. Those will have higher energy density but much worse long term performance as well as the inherent environmental issues. Also the BYD price in Europe is much different than in other regions.

BYD sells this many cars, has their own battery manufacturing, own chip manufacturing and everything. And yet its just 100 billion when Tesla has a market cap of 800 billion. Makes completely no sense.

PHEVs have two systems to maintain.
