New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in China

Their culture war for some reason made EVs a hate object for a substantial portion of their population. Reddit has quite a few stories of Teslas getting harassed by trucks. EV adoption in the USA will be slow. I think they might even fall behind the developing world on this.

China's over reliance on EVs and the electric grid may become a liability during wartime, as the enemy will try to disrupt your power generation. With gasoline and liquefied hydrogen a alternative, you can transport them around.

Gas is far more of a vulnerability because pipelines can be bombed & embargoes established at sea. China is not self sufficient in gas but has plenty of ways for generating electricity from coal to dams to solar to nuclear to wind. Civilians can fall back on bikes during times of war any way since Chinese cities are dense. By contrast most people in the US can’t travel except by car, so there’s always that extra gas they have to spend.

That's as ridiculous as your landlines are more secure against strikes than wireless communications towers assertion. EVs can be charged by rooftop solar, and they can still use fossil fuel generators to charge. Wireless towers can be rebuilt on some random tree and building multiple towers for redundancy is heck a lot easier than laying down multiple broadband connection lines.

It is not possible for everyone to have solar panels on their roof top during war times. It is all about alternatives and redundancy in the electricity power grid and gasoline supply chain. That is why BYD hybrid EVs are so popular, you can use both gasoline and electricity for powering them.

Right, and if you keep a staple of a billion horses with a strategic reserve of a trillion tons of hay you'd have even more redundancy
