New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in China

It is not possible for everyone to have solar panels on their roof top during war times. It is all about alternatives and redundancy in the electricity power grid and gasoline supply chain. That is why BYD hybrid EVs are so popular, you can use both gasoline and electricity for powering them.

The majority of new solar panel installations in China aren't utility-scale anymore.

They're distributed installations inside cities now.

---

"In July 2021, China’s National Energy Bureau required solar installation on 50 percent of rooftop space on party and government buildings, 40 percent of public buildings such as schools and hospitals, 30 percent of industrial and commercial spaces, and 20 percent of rural households. It also mandated that these measures conclude by the end of 2023. Consequently, about 54 percent of all Chinese solar installations year-to-date have been for distributed generation"

I would add that BYD using the term "NEV" in the European version of the football virtual advertising board feed.

Unfortunately, that term is unknown here. They're better off with "EV"

NB. The Vivo, Hisense and Aliexpress ones were fine.
Their main market is China and it’s better to focus on home market

how many people do you think live in the Hamptons vs crowded appartment building areas. More importantly, when you are going on trips, what kind of supercharging availability is there?

I say this as someone btw who has a pretty good charging situation. Most people aren't as lucky

Just making a joke on the general expense of EVs in America. Now your last post brings an interesting point, how is charging handled in China? I read that most (51%) public chargers are the usual 7kW AC charger, which takes maybe 3 to 4 hours for most cars. Obviously people are usually not hanging around somewhere that long. Another big chunk are DC chargers in the 20kW range (~20% IIRC) which would be able to charge someone’s car over something like a shopping trip or a meal, but somewhere like SZ, where adoption is high, how is that demand handled?

BYD should advertise worldwide not only in Chinese, but also in the local languages. They, also Huawei and DJI, should advertise at the next super bowl game.

Super Bowl attracts a primarily North American audience, you’d be advertising to people who can’t buy the products. Makes no sense. The ROI would be zero. However, you see Chinese companies like Peak advertise on NBA arena boards all the time even though their products are not available in America. Why? NBA is popular in China and it is cheaper than buying TV commercial time in China. Positive ROI.
