Stellantis owns 51% of Leapmotor International.

I think what this means is that Leapmotor has essentially become a non-Chinese brand outside of China.

The thing I don't know is whether Leapmotor International is going to deviate from the Chinese Leapmotor by switching some models to Stellantis platforms or continue letting Leapmotor China do all the designing and engineering

I think they probably find it makes economic sense to let Leapmotor do all that stuff, at least for the first two models. Get the sales going first before adding on any more costs.

Nio ET9, get rip of snow by itself.

Glasses of wine on engine cap while driving.
As far as I know, unlike BYD's suspension, this suspension was developed by an American company.

No wonder the Western legacy OEMs are panicking about China.

European automakers are worried about their own politicians' protectionism. For example, they want Chinese battery suppliers' to set up shop in Europe as soon as possible to prevent potential problems in the future.
Chinese battery and battery materials suppliers have reportedly been asked by their European clients, such as BMW, Volkswagen, and Stellantis, to start producing in Europe as soon as possible.

A staffer at a Chinese battery supplier told 36Kr that large European automakers have asked the company to produce batteries, or at least cells and cathode materials, in Europe by 2027, the Chinese tech media reported today.

When the deal was announced Stellantis said “Leapmotor has now become one of our brands”, so it there was no doubt of the intention.

One thing that already mentioned in the past were that the Leapmotor C10 and C11 are ready for international sale, so it’s very likely these are going to be badge engineered into one of the existing Stellantis brands.

There are no real Stellantis EV platforms to speak of. Basically the only one they have is underpinning the Citroen e-C3, Fiat 600e, Jeep Avenger, etc. The whole rationale behind the Leapmotor stake was the tacit admission that Stellantis is quite behind in their EV development including future "smart" driving platforms.

Do we have the electric Jeep in 2023? Kind of, the aforementioned Avenger is sold in Europe, but the lack of 4WD means Stellantis won't even bring it to Jeep's home and biggest market, North America/USA.

So really there is a big expectation to integrate Leapmotor's know how.
