People think China can only catchup to US and EU by growing. Nope, they can also catchup by pulling the guys on top down as well. There is also a thinking that China can never be rich cause it will require too much resources. But they do not realise, China could also take away existing resources and money from the west who consumes too much.

The more China move up the value chain, there will be economic crisis and downturn in the west.

Not necessarily, compared to 100 years ago, all of the world is richer and the convenience in life is going from strength to strength. If China can really utilize all of it's potential, the whole world will probably live in abundance.

I really doubt. western countries are able to sustain their high standard of living because they are selling advanced manufacturing products with a high profit margin because there are few competition. Enter china that are pricing human capital cheaply. On average, the world will live better because the lower half can enhance their standard of living with Chinese products but the west can no longer sell many high margin products.

When faced with Chinese competition, the west will certainly have to lose market share in most high tech industries. They will probably try to preserve market share in their own market by trying to ban Chinese Imports through Tariff and non-tariff barriers like sanctions, hyping up security threat and so on. This is already happening with western politicians talking about how Chinese cars can be used for spying and so on.

But they will lose the rest of the world for sure, in 15-20 years Chinese cars will dominate the rest of the world, not western or japanese cars.

* Satellites
* Cars
* OLED TV
* etc

Soon .... SSD, Memory, CPU, O/S, AI, Graphic card, Lithography, etc
