Arrogance of Yu Chengdong laid to bare. After he made a big fuss of Dongchedi results, M7 again embarrassed itself with just 10km pure electric range in very hard conditions. Whereas U8 was top with over 60km. Showing again that developing all the hard tech for EVs take time.

Absolutely right. Proof of tech is in the doing. BYD (and CATL) absolutely crush energy storage technology.

To the point global car brands source their batteries directly from these two giants. The only current capable competition is from South Korea LG and to a lesser extent, other SK battery makers. However, given how much talent and funding Chinese companies have poured into this field in the last ten years, the capability gap is favouring China. Competition however is good. This is how China got good to begin with. Not only in energy storage.

registration for 1million+ market and 500k-1m market in China from past week for domestic brand. The last bastion of foreign control in China's auto market

Dongchedi's 50km/h icy road moose test. Again, the cars you expect to do well (the off road variants) did well and AITO M7 failed it along with Lynk 08

Zeekr showcasing some super fast chargers here 800 kW and a plan called 1515, 15 minutes drive for Zeekr customer to a supercharger that can charge in 15 minutes

Major
The Golden Battery is the world's first mass-produced 800 V LFP ultra-fast charging battery, and it has a volume utilization rate of 83.7 percent, the first time the industry has seen that number exceed 80 percent, Zeekr said.

As a comparison, regular LFP batteries have a volume utilization rate of 66 percent, and Li-ion ternary batteries have just surpassed 72 percent, Zeekr noted.
...
The Golden Battery also has a high level of safety, with the cells not catching fire or exploding when subjected to extreme crushing and pinpricks in a fully charged state, Zeekr said.

The pack did not catch fire or explode even after 240 seconds of sustained fire in a 700°C fire test, much higher than the Chinese national standard of 130 seconds, according to the company.

I saw a lot of posts on weibo showing how dongchedi sabotages Huawei's results. I don't think we should put too much faith in car reviewers in general.

just a bunch of huawei fanboys being sour losers

you see among Huawei fanboys, you can only show tests where huawei's tech is doing well.

The moment where it performs poorly, it's everyone else's fault

U8 had 6x the range of M7 and people are complaining about minor details?

When you build your car like a phone with wheels, then your car won't function so well in tough conditions. That's just the reality.

Huawei has a long way to catch up to BYD in cold weather tech. This is no joke.

Sure. They need to pull their socks up.

But I thought Huawei's AVATR and AITO cars were made by Changan? Huawei being the people doing the software, supplying chips design etc, and all the sensors, IOT etc? Also who's making these batteries? Surely not Huawei... do they have a hand in battery tech?

They are involved in all aspect of the design. Could Seres have helped and make these aspects better? Sure, but HW decided to work with them. When HW insists on being the big dog in all these partnerships & make it all bout itself, then it deserves all the blowback it gets if those models underperform. After all, Yu Chengdong has no issue accepting credits when AITO does well.

anyway, more news

Song L has launched with much lower prices than unveiling party. Just as I expected. There is no way it can be competitive prices above 200k. 189.8K was basically what I expected, since that's how much Seal is priced.
If you want to sell higher than that, you need to include ADAS features

Zeekr battery looks pretty good here. 4.5C & 500kW charging supported and really good space utilization

Wuling Binguo launched in Indonesia for more than 2x what it's priced in China and still gets great interest. Chinese automakers need to get into Indonesia a little faster

HW's patent for autonomous charging vehicle. I like it. Looks pretty cute

Another sodium ion battery project by 安徽青钠 (Anhui QingNa) has started construction of base. Target is 10GWh. The interesting part to me is this part
第三代晶体管氮化镓等先进技术进行严格把控,确保成品电芯的高稳定性与高一致性
So GaN chips are used to ensure stability and consistency of battery cell. chips are very important to battery management system & another things, but this is first tie I've seen GaN chips used for improving stability of battery cells.

Wait till you see the hardcore fanboys who equate anything negative about Huawei tech with foreign anti-China propaganda.
