I wrote about the importance of Horizon and various domestic ADAS solutions here and Journey series. We need healthy competition to Huawei's computation platform.

And Huawei has another JV now with ChangAn for providing its ADAS solution and smart cockpit technology.

VW and its public pronouncement of cooperation in ADAS. I find it to be rather wishful to think Mobileye can get ADAS working for them

Status update for Yangwang project. U8 at 50 units/day right now. Need to go up a lot more to satisfy the huge backlog they have

Denza chief on ADAS program. Expect BYD to have a global ADAS program that is very effective.

Byd winning largest ever electric bus order in Singapore

Chinese bus market this year and also in October. Electrification is almost complete here

Huge expansion ahead for fangchengbao. They are really on a road show right now

Noa test comparisons from Shanghai. Again, N7 looks comparable to Huawei and xpeng models

Chinese market is now buying cars, both EV and ICE, like crazy, so that the demand for buses is decreasing for now.

Well, the carnage begins, as we predicted here a while ago. Contrary to VW's confession, Toyota is still in self denial, at least publicly. Their overall market shares are on the chopping blocks of the EV transition. Personally I think VW has a better chance to transform itself than Toyota.
VW's issues are not EV's in itself. The cars for a while were ballooning in cost.
This is from 2010 about the famous decontented Jetta for the US market

The Jetta remains VW's top seller in the USA, it is a sedan. All the US automakers are dropping sedans and saying they are not economically feasible. That is a major disconnect.
There is also the question why they bothered to produce the Areton when the Phaeton was a unmitigated disaster.

They keep trying to move VW upmarket, but it is simply not commanding that cachet.

The EV transition in the US has stalled somewhat

Prices have not fallen quickly enough and people's financial situations are being pressured by higher borrowing costs and inflation. It is also not helped by the failure to get projects off the ground due to political issues

"I don't know if I'll go around on a lithium battery, so if I'm in a wreck I burn in a big blue plasma beam," said Jesse Williams, the head of the Republican Party in Decatur County, Georgia.
This is the level of discourse in that country...

Toyota has plenty of time, but it is not unlimited. Also, the more time they take, the less dominant position they will have.

EV transition will happen because electrical beat mechanical any day of the week.

All this does it hold back US automakers transition, hurt Tesla and help Chinese automakers accelerate. Non-Tesla American automakers will be pushed out in a couple of years at the current pace of electrification in China
