Anyone know about Autel EV chargers?
Chinese company, seems like their speciality is diagnostic scanners.
Was considering a Tesla charger, but the J1772 version is back ordered.
Autel seems like the best value. Cheaper than ChargePoint, CSA/UL tested, eligible for government rebates (unfortunately none in my province, but it means they are properly registered), has the juice to be carried by Costco USA…
Only thing is not too much brand recognition and supposedly a bad cable in winter (possibly an issue for me)

Hmm, forklifts is one of the areas where I think Li based BEVs don't make much sense, the added weight savings/ energy density is not too important since the vehicle itself needs a substantial amount of counter weights and also the importance of safety, even if LFPs in a crash don't catch on fire, the fumes can't be good in a enclosed warehouse.

Then isn't the battery acting double-duty as a counterweight?

The exhaust fume from ICEs can't be better.

A lot of current folklifts use lead acid based batteries, which are like 4 time heavier than Li-ion so no additional weights are needed for high reaching folks.

Indoor space you are right, they are basically stuck with battery folklifts, ICE folks are usually only used outdoors.

But digging into this topic more it seems that I was mistaken, Li-ions are cheaper to run, longer lasting and better performing than lead acids for folklifts. So I think BYD has a good shot here at displacing the market.

Ford announced this year it will invest $3.5 billion in an electric-vehicle battery plant in Michigan, stirring political controversy by saying it’ll operate with technology and support from China’s Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd.

US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg addressed the challenge in a Bloomberg Television interview Sunday, saying the US must take steps to cut into China’s advantage in EV batteries and that building the refining capacity for key materials is “addressable.”


The US has to ensure it is “positioning to have an economically sensible, environmentally sensible and geopolitically stable approach to how we’re going to get these vitally important elements in our economy that are only to grow in importance,” Buttigieg said.

Ford, great-grandson of founder Henry Ford, said he sees an opportunity for Ford engineers to understand the technology.

“All we are doing is licensing the technology,” he said. “That’s really important that our engineers gain that knowledge so we can eventually do it ourselves.”

Let them. Since Americans only know how to steal and don't know how to innovate, they will always be one to two steps behind the leading edge.

I don't see the problem. tech for market trade off is pretty common throughout the history. If CATL knows what it's doing then it should be able to keep a tech advantage.

I'm just not concerned at all by having American company licensing not the latest technology. Remember, LFP is valued for its costs, not for its high energy density.

If that is the case, the Chinese government wouldn't have inquired and probed the investment and deal between CATL and Ford. It isn't so much about if the US would be able to steal the technology but more about making it too easy for the Americans to access Chinese technology when the US is restricting and limiting China accesses to the US technology or even its allies' technology in every way possible.

Well, Americans restricting access to its technology is helping China develop its own industries. Why should China take the same approach outside of the most sensitive technology?
