New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in China

Well, Americans restricting access to its technology is helping China develop its own industries. Why should China take the same approach outside of the most sensitive technology?
China's semiconductor industry didn't develop due to initial restrictions as most companies are fine with the fact for continuing relying on Taiwan, SK and the US semiconductor imports. It is until the US decided to ban Huawei and many Chinese firms from even buying such semiconductor chips that resulted in China developing its own industries.

China would continue selling batteries to American auto companies with no restrictions. It means the US auto companies don't have the urgency to invest and develop its own battery industry. Licensing the battery technology to Ford is just an attempt to make money. If China felt that such cooperation is more beneficial to the US than China, there is no reason why China shouldn't delay or ban such licensing arrangement. Again, in the end of the day, there is no reason why China should give Americans easy time to acquire Chinese battery technology as the US is restricting China in technology in every way.

I see this going on on social media. Good news if this is happening everywhere. Last year, sights of people lining up to buy BYD cars were common. Hasn't happened since they ramped up production at end of last year and into this year (especially after the price wars)

Looks like demand for BYD is coming back up

by announcing a new 51kWh base-model MG4 some that will undercut every EV/PHEV on the Australian market today. It's unclear how this will compare with BYD Australia's Dolphin pricing but clearly it is going to increase the competitive pressure.

Obviously the finer details aren't of much interest outside Australia. The important takeaway is that we are beginning to see some price competition amongst Chinese brands even in our fairly nascent and Tesla-dominated market.

Rural areas prefer inexpensive micro-van, light truck, and mini truck. There aren't enough selection of these automobiles yet.
Hmm, again. Plenty of byd options in these area. Can we not parrot MSM?

Byd really is pricing exports pretty high. Doesn't help to have a shitty distributor in Australia. People are right to complain that they are not cheap anymore.

Interesting story on byd efforts in America. Still don't think they will be entering pv market. Should hopefully make their commercial vehicle sales more competitive hopefully. Probably won't be too different from their bus jvs in other countries.

It is the Chinese government's assessment that more options of microvan, minitruck and light truck are needed to tailor to rural area.
