things to think about from Ford's point of view

a lot of factory capacity not being used.
Oh those capacity will be used alright, but for export to North America. A Win-win in my book as I'm tired of compact SUVs as CR-V and Escape costing $50K here. Downright unaffordable.

I still think they're pretty screwed. Their excess capacity is crazy (1 million+).

Not to mention 1.15 million of that is in Chongqing, one of the furthest cities from the sea in China. I'm guessing transport will be quite expensive

I believe Ford has 1.6 million per annum capacity, and they are working on exporting 800,000 per year. The rest are for Chinese market. Pretty sure their cars will be moved by railway to ports for export. I doubt it would be too difficult since it's done similarly in North America.

If it is intended for European nations, then Chongqing auto exports use China-Europe Railway Express which is actually faster and cheaper than many other alternatives. There are also a northern route for Russia.

If it is intended for North and South Americans and East Asians, then the Yangtze River Golden Waterway is used for auto exports. Also the Chongqing-Shanghai direct express line and the Chongqing-Ningbo rail-sea intermodal train for land routes. If it is intended for SEA, then Chongqing can use the New International Land-sea Trade Corridor.

AFAIK, China railway express transportation actually offers better saving in both transit time and logistic expenses and also much safer and less hassle. Other routes probably more expensive as it involves both railway and sea shipping.

Great Wall announced today that they reported to the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the State Administration for Market Regulation, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in April that the emissions of evaporative pollutants from BYD's Song Plus DM-i and Qin Plus DM-i vehicles did not meet the standards. Great Wall said that according to the law, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment should initiate an investigation, which means that the Ministry of Ecology and Environment has not yet investigated BYD as Great Wall wishes, or at least not publicly disclosed this issue.

A netizen commented, "It seems that BYD's car can be bought with confidence."
