From 雪域新峰 on Chinese social media,
Chongqing, Yancheng and Jinan will all have production line for batteries to be delivered to Tesla. The blade battery not delivered in pouch, so likely used for structural battery pack.
First production line started in September and 2 more lines joined in October. There will be 10+ production lines devoted to producing batteries for Tesla by Q1 next year. This will enable over 20k Model Y per month at Berlin factory.

Based on my prior knowledge of production lines to production, I think we are probably looking at 20 GWh per year if they are actually fully devoting all those lines to Tesla production.

Another move in BYD India plan

Kotak Prime has been on-boarded as one of the financiers for BYD India’s electric vehicles across the country.
Under this partnership, Kotak Prime will offer vehicle financing loans basis the financial needs of BYD India’s buyers.
If not for the current anti-China sentiment in India, I'd be very positive about their future here.

BYD is making a great impression in Thailand. Here are Thai auto influencer coming to BYD plant to view Seal and others

BYD Dolphin coming to Australia soon. This should sell better than Atto 3.

On Tesla 4680, this is where they are at after 2 to 3 years of pure musk propaganda.
One of the things I've learned after reading about the East Asian economic miracle is what they called embodied innovation. Basically it means that having lots of theoretical papers isn't enough. Innovation has to happen through trial and error "in the field", on the factory floor through rapid iteration cycles.

China has that advantage in spades and will keep it for the foreseeable future.

China's major issue used to be getting the capital to enlarge your company. But ever since the STAR 50 index in Shanghai Stock exchange popped up that stopped being a problem. People are dumping huge wallops of money on these companies and they are funding their expansions easily. Just look at the semi companies for example.

BYD is developing new smart chasis for it's high end brands. To appear on a high end model in 2023 and be deployed on all high end models by 2025 + some medium brand models.
BYDSmartChasis.jpg

6 important features:
- Ultra High Performance: Double Wishbone/Five bar Links air suspension and rear wheel steering
- Ultra-long battery life with compact/light aluminum chasis allowing for more battery spaces and better aerodynamic performance
- High power provided by rear axle with 1.5L/1.5T/2.0T/2.0t+ dual motor, single or double electric motor
- High interchangeability architecture with 60% commonality under same architecture; 80% commonality under same platform
- High scalability: support A+/B/C/D-class sedans and SUVs
- High Intelligence: Disus-C/A active suspension, Active Stabilizer Bar; Redundant Steering / Active Rear Wheel Steering , IPB intelligent braking system

On the high performance part of it.
- 4 wheel independent drive platform (so 4 independent wheel motors) -> Provides torque vectoring , anti-skid control, anti-lock motor function. High adaptability to snow, ice, grassland, sand, rock, mud surfaces.
- On top of forward, backward, left, right, up and down on normal chasis, this one is also capable of rear wheel steering.
- Combined, this easily allows for crabwalk, tank u-turn and other modes.

Annual BYD Battery Capacity Estimates

End-2021: 135 GWh
End-2022 (est): 285 GWh
End-2023 (est): 445 GWh

This projected increase of 160 GWh in 2023 would be an additional 3.2 million vehicles (annual run-rate), if each vehicle has a battery pack of 50 KWh on average

One new area of development for battery usage is eVTOL and more generally Electric aircraft.

Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!

As we've seen, battery technology continues to improve over time with more dense energy storage. Even so, batteries are still terrible energy stores compared to hydrocarbons. I doubt they will ever try something like nuclear powered commercial aircraft.

We've already seen XPeng and Geely with eVTOL concepts. So, I wonder what is the next step. Without solid state battery, I don't think this is viable at all. With solid state battery and hybrid propulsion, I wonder if they can have enough range to do regional routes. Basically 50 to 70 seat aircraft with 500 miles of range.

We've seen BYD move into so many areas of electric technology already. I would be shocked if they haven't looked into electric aircraft by this point

BYD Dolphin landed in Colombia market. I believe Yuan+ EV already launched in October. Yuan+ is selling close to 200 million COP and Dolphin is at 150 million COP. Dolphin in my mind should be a better seller than Yuan+/Atto 3.

here is a Colombian news on that

Looks like Qin+ DM-i and Song+ DM-i arrived in Colombia back in March

So, BYD has been doing business in Colombian PV market for longer than many of the other markets.
