Nah, NIO is a loser company. All show, no substance.

BYD on Sep 30th announced that Changsha base can product 1 million cars a year. Will also be producing Frigate 05 and Qin+ DM-i soon.

Atto 3 officially unveiled in Thailand. 1.119 million THB ($31K). there are already 30 showrooms/service centers. They will add 60 more in 2023. According to Chinese social media, they are looking to deliver 5000 this year.

BYD will unveil Atto 3 in India tomorrow. Nice teaser

BYD spending 5 million RMB in Shanghai to increase lithium battery production to 72 million a year. I would imagine this is not car related. This should be for electronics product.

BYD investing 100 million RMB in Nanchang to build their intelligent city. Weird, is BYD getting into AI also?

Geely production up 26% YoY for September.

Honda sales dropped 16.8% in September.

Ford Q3 down 11.3% YoY

This is kind of interesting. BYD average sales price continue to go up in Q3. It is 176k by September. This number should go up even higher once Denza numbers are counted in. You don't see the same sales price movement with other brands on this table.

Tesla delivery to China down in last week of September. Looks like they are going to shift to export for first half of Q4.

Despite $100 billion in planned US spending, China is on course to gain, not lose, EV battery market share--by 2030, it will make 98% of the world's LFP cathodes, and 87% of them overall. The reality that China's dominance of batteries is likely only to become greater by the end of the decade, and that Western production will have to grow faster if the U.S. and Europe want to catch up. Western companies will have extreme difficulty dislodging China as the dominant force in the global battery industry.

I wished BYD would release their other models in Australia, the Atto3's design is a bit too radical for my taste. In fact EVs in Australia are either too expensive or really ugly, there's not much in between.
Do you mean the interior? Atto3's exterior (especially in white) looks like one of the most conventional cars ever, which is why I suspect they started with that model for all their overseas markers

The car I'm wishing for most is the ~40k RMB 5-seat cars with 300km of range

Changan Benben E-star was such a car and was briefly sold in 2021 before lithium prices exploded.

Now all the 300km 5-seat cars have risen to minimum 60k and usually 80k for a decent one (at this price you're probably better off buying a petrol car). I wonder when (if ever) we'll see a return of this segment

The dragon scale side panels are a bit polarising, but yeah mainly the interior is a bit much. Is it too much to ask for to get a Toyota Camry but electric? Alternatively, something like honda-e which is also radical, but quite fun looking.

Alas taste is very subjective so maybe some people dig the musical instrument interior of the atto3? Feature wise it basically steps on all other legacy manufacturers though.

BYD Atto 3/Yuan Plus will be both a global EV and a top seller in China, probably will sell at least 300,000 annually in China (together with Yuan) next year.

hmm, Dolphin is supposed to come. That's the real mass market brand I think. Seal is supposed to be high end one. Aside from that, Sea lion and electric Pickup will also come to Australia next year.

From PanDaily, on BYD's agreement with Sime Darby Auto to import into Malaysia. Expect to sell 2000 this year and another 10000 next year of E6 and Atto 3.

Atto 3/Yuan+ production should go up in Q4 with production from Hefei and Changzhou. Should be a huge backlog here.

Looks like BYD is bringing Yuan+ EV/Song+ DM-i and E2 to Montevideo, Uruguay.
