Could be huge. But not probable. If and a big IF, VW has the balls to sign up Huawei, then Germany would not have any political problems vis-a-vis China. Huawei has become the de facto benchmark on how anti-China US becomes.
Maybe this is just for locally produced Volkswagens in China?
They can export like crazy from China.

Still, China + Asia is a huge market so it makes sense
VW is not very big here in America. On the other hand, they are really behind in their software. Herbert Diess admitted to as much. If doing at JV with Huawei can save them from annihilation in their biggest markets outside of North America, that seems to be a worthy tradeoff.

I get the sense that the people that run NIO are the type that always think they are the smartest people in the room. That's not a good thing.
