This kind of makes me laugh. After years of loss in China and its JV partner pulling out, KIA is now revamping strategy to export from the China's base. At some point, it should be obvious that their product isn't competitive enough.

I think what's quite important for this industry as a whole is investing the resources needed on the new mining projects. There is just not enough mining projects developed to support the increasing demand. Not only domestically, but also internationally.

Here, they are developing a project in Argentina

There are so many articles like this without understanding why these automakers keep picking Chinese supply chain for EVs. You simply can't produce EVs at low cost without utilizing Chinese supply chain. Koreans are not happy their batteries are being excluded from the recent EV bill. It's just not possible for anyone trying to be competitive to just not use the vast supply chain and infrastructure China has set up.

I have said it before, BYD really needs to work with their designs. Atto 3 is somewhere between mediocre and ugly, especially interior cannot be described in words(guitar strings!). NIO on the other hand, it's the epitome of design. Let's hope they can increase their production numbers because I can assure you ET5 and ES7 will sell like hot cakes in Europe.

The inside is weird but you get used to it. I think the outside looks beautiful. I get lots of compliments from coworkers.

Something weird I realised is that Chinese companies have almost no presence in the budget subcompact sedan segment

The Buick Kaiyue, Hyundai Huanchi, Chevrolet Kewozi are all subcompact sedans that sell at around 60k rmb, but there are basically no Chinese competitors in the same space.

I wonder if it's because the margins in this segment are thin and Chinese companies don't think it's worth it to develop a cheap 1.0T/1.3L engine for it while these foreign companies already have such engines
