well here is the license registration numbers in China for the first 4 weeks of August. The production numbers for the full month should be higher than this, since there is still 3 more days and registration lags production by a little + export market + commercial vehicles and such.
Even so, the numbers are not as high as I would've expected. I mean BYD is still 25k off July's full production total. Tesla is nowhere to be found. Xpeng, NIO and LiAuto are all below 10k still.

I think I may have missed the part where BYD is actually supplying Tesla Model Y with structural battery pack. But this partnership is deeper than I thought. Sounds like BYD really got themselves involved here in lowering Model Y weight. If you need any proof that BYD is not afraid of Tesla competition, this should be it.

This is quite interesting. With Chinese auto market moving away from ICE cars, Sinopec is getting in on building charging infrastructure. I wonder if this is one area where they can get a leg up on competition and start exporting efficient, fast charging super chargers around the world.

Lithium miners continue to make more money

Tesla model y standard version now down to under 1 month in wait time in China after the production expansion. I guess they will continue to export more of the Shanghai Giga production. They are going to have cut model y prices in China.

Chengdu BYD Semiconductor Co., Ltd. was incorporated on August 30 in Chengdu city with a registered capital of 100 million yuan ($14.47 million). The newborn company features a business scope covering integrated circuit design, discrete semiconductor manufacturing, sale of display devices, and other businesses. It is wholly-owned by BYD Semiconductor Co., Lt
I commented on this part a week ago, but BYD is definitely expanding its semiconductor base. Looks like they are setting up a new base in Chengdu.

More from Chinese social media
BBA (BMW, Benz, Audi)'s 400k RMB market is suffering due to high gas prices. Effecting resale market. lol, this is just the beginning for ICE cars in China. These high fossil fuel prices is great for green energy transition.

A lot of them could opt for Han DM-i or Tang DM-i/p. DM-i have pure electric range of up to 250 km, which is enough range for most day to day activity. Even DM-p with 215 km range has enough range.

So, the high gas prices aren't just affecting low to medium market. The higher end market is also selling ICE cars and they have money to buy something like Denza D9 and Tang DM-p (or NIO)

Lol, even the dummies on CNBC are noticing the Robotaxis in China and are astounded by it.

A lot of investment and growth in AI cloud and Apollo Go robotaxi for Baidu. Again, BYD has partnered up with Baidu already on Apollo self driving platform. AI cloud and robotaxi is at least somewhat related by the AI portion of things.

We are getting to the point where fully autonomous robot axis are happening in China. This does bring a dilemma. Some cities ensure local employment with mandates that taxi drivers must be local. Not sure how comfortable they will be to have fully autonomous cabs everywhere.
