No wonder S. Korean is so reluctant to join the Chips 4

China's top SUV maker, the Great Wall's Haval, is aiming to make 80% of its vehicles NEVs by 2025 and completely phase out ICEs by 2030.

Looks like NIO plans to expand its battery suppliers to also include BYD and CALB. It does make me wonder why they want ternary batteries in their ALPS brand? Wouldn't it make sense to stick with the lower cost LFP or even sodium ion batteries?

Xpeng not doing great. Again, I think they need to turn things around in the next year or they will not survive.

CATL seems to have gotten past the worst part of the high lithium costs.

CATL margins is 8%. not great, but manageable during this high material cost period. It will get better since they have renegotiated contracts with everyone.

Alright, Frigate 07 finally getting revealed this week in the Chengdu Auto show

D9 is officially going on the market today. I do think that it looks really good. A very fantastic entrance into the higher end market for BYD.
I believe 30k pre-orders. An hour after officially launching, 10206 confirmed orders.

from comments by the australian customers it seems to be extra cost added by the local dealers.
But they have reduced the warranty period from 7yrs to6yrs. Surely they would have to consult BYD before doing that? Perhaps they think Australian and NZders drive the cars a lot harder than people in China.
As to add an extra $3000 to the sticker price, the individual purchaser may be able to negotiate on that as the market becomes more competitive. But need to get an oil change after x amount of kilometers has to be a rip off as electric cars do not require them. That's Aussies for ya, total ripoff artists.

Now, the updated domestic NEV sales from first 3 weeks of August
I'm not sure if BYD will hit 180k this month, but they are definitely selling way more than everyone else.

No idea what's going on with Tesla. Their production is probably affected by the power shortages, but the sales numbers are not good. Maybe they are just exporting everything.

Li Auto is selling very few cars.

Production at Tesla Shanghai is mostly for exports for the first 2 weeks of each month. For the second half of each month production will cater to local Chinese market.
