Shanghai is finally starting to open up again on Monday. That should help the EV industry.
Byd might be the first to achieve cell to structure on byd seal. It already achieves 150 wh/kg at pack level. Saving additional weight with ctb will effectively achieve even higher energy density.
BYD Seal will open for pre-sale on May 20
. It will officially go on sale in June. It will be produced in Changzhou and possibly Xi'an down the line.
Looks like BYD Atto 3 (Yuan+) is doing well in Australia.
at least 3600 orders for Atto 3 thus far. Remember, Atto 2 (dolphin) and 4 (seal) will also be coming. Australia is starved for good EVs.
Not easy to get people to buy without much brand recognition, but they are managing to do so.
EV still at its infancy in India (seems like). Only E6 is offered there. I expect this to be a slow export market for a while, but more charging station is good.
Not sure when they will enter the passenger market in Japan, but they are now at 70% market share in electric buses there
Ford says it is going with lfp on it's current generation EVs. That means either catl or byd. Previously, byd was contracted to build lithium ternary batteries for Ford. Which never made sense. Chinese social media speculates that byd will be supplying blade battery to ford for all it's evs, not just Chinese ones. In February, customer 1 visited byd battery factory in Xian, which is currently able to deliver 20 GWh of battery a year. This customer was expected to be Ford. Mustang Mach-E only sold 352 unit in January. Currently, BYD is the only battery source for Mach-E in China.
