As the world looks to lower emissions, energy efficiency/conservation becomes ever more important. As a result of that, we need cheaper and more efficiency battery storage. It makes complete sense for the leading battery makers for EVs to also be leaders for commercial energy storage.
This week, BYD is presenting its Battery-Box product using LFP Blade technology for the commercial & industrial market
There is obviously quite a bit of competition. Tesla has the well know powerwall product.
I'm sure there are other ones, but I've only personally looked at Tesla powerwall, which is a very cool appealing product for home owner. I think LG and Panasonic both have options for the market also. This seems to be a market BYD can do very well. As I showed a few pages ago, there will be more battery capacity for BYD coming online than their NEV requirements. So, it makes sense to sell them to other automakers as well as commercial space.
I think once CATL gets it's sodium ion batteries commercialized, that should be the most cost efficient battery source in the market.
The thing about BYD is that it doesn't boast about stuff that are not in production. For example, it actually has the most number of patents for solid state battery in China
But since it's not ready to commercialize it, it doesn't talk about it.
