correct me if i'm wrong, but external gun is not the same as turretless. external gun means the operators are inside the vehicle as opposed to the gun turret. you still need a turret if you want your gun to rotate. turretless would be something like the German StuG from WWII. A turretless configuration seems to be a very bad design to use for MBT.

yeah.In china, there are 4 parties of tank fans. Muti-turret, Single-turret, Turreless and RPG.
All the rest of the fans laugh at Turreless.

The article never says anything about a "Chinese clone" of anything. It only says some part of it looks like MP5 while other parts look like type '03. There is also some part that looks like Swiss SIG550. So the article does not say anything about "clone" of anything since the author specifically mentioned that this gun reminds him of a number of guns (my understanding of "clone" is something of an exact copy of somehting else). Also, the author says at the beginning that he's no expert of weapons and only can compare the looks of the weapons.

BTW, the article (at least the part that's been shown in the image) never mentions anything about bullets, let alone metal or rubber.

Type 64, Type 79, Type 85, QCW-05, and CF-05, how many different models of SMG does the PLA and PAP need? I really don't see what's to be gained? Is this another 'export only' weapon like the CQ or JS 9mm?

Just because it exists doesn't mean it will be adopted. Many prototypes are created to meet a requirement, only one (or none) wins the project. The rest may be finished up in an effort to win export orders. These are the ones which appear in magazines with a large amount of detail.

It was showed on a China police weapon an equipment exhibition.I remember there was a laser gun looks like mp-5 as well.
