i guess it hasn't been fulfilled just yet, either way. Waiting for the Ka-31s to join service now. Looks like PLAN wants some insurance policy in case Z-8 AEWs program is not successful.
FARNBOROUGH. July 26 (Interfax-AVN) - The construction of Kamov Ka-28 and Ka-31 deck helicopters continues at the helicopter plant in Kumertau, Bashkortostan, at orders from China, First Deputy Director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation Alexander Fomin has told Interfax-AVN.

"The contract provides for the delivery of nine Ka-28 helicopters and nine Ka-31 helicopters. It will definitely be fulfilled," Fomin said at the Farnborough international air show where he led the Russian delegation.

He said that the process of acceptance of the first helicopters by Chinese customers has begun.

Fomin said that the Kumertau plant is being actively modernized.

Well, ka-31s are designed for AEW roles to be flown off aicraft carriers. They don't do the ASW or SAR that your average DDGs need. So it is possible they could carry ka-31s on 052C but I'd have to wait to see how that is employed.

That's assuming it is indeed a ship's hangar

Good find! We don't often get many good photos on the hangers of PLAN ships.

If I am not mistaken, this would be the hanger of either an 054 or 054A (with 054A being my personal guess) FFG, probably taken while on anti-piracy patrol near Somalia. That is the only time 054/054As deploy with Ka28s instead of Z9s.

If you are lucky and look back through the PLAN and Somalia pirates thread, you might even be able to find out the pennant number of the ship using the hell's serial number.

My internet is fiddly at the moment, so I cannot do that as it will use up all my mobile data allowance.

Great photos & a great find zoom. I hope the PLAN is going to be more transparent now that they will soon have a CV in training/operation...

I like those two pix because they are real. They are not staged like so many PLA photos I see. Look at the detail. Those ladders on the deck. The tie down chains. The test gear out. Not the best lighting. These are the type of PLA photos I want to see.
