Going to see Oblivion this weekend...Saturday. Myself, two sons, and one son-in-law. Looks like a really good movie and we'll have a lot of fun. Tom Cruise does good in these types of roles.

Then, on May 4th we'll see, "Iron Man III," then two weeks later, May 18th it's "After Earth," and then the first weekend in June is "Into Darkness," the next Star Trek Movie. All lined up every two weeks.

Then, lined up after that is, "Man of Steel," the next Superman movie, "World War Z,", "The Lone Rager," "Pacific Rim,", and "Elysium." Lot's of good movies coming out between now and August and it'll keep us busy through the whole time...and one of those sons is getting married in July...my youngest child, who will turn 24 this August.

Great summer coming up.

We always go to matinees. Costs $7.25 instead of their normal $12.00. Half price sounds really nice though.

I have to say...OBLIVION WAS OUTSTANDING!

Great sci-fi story line, and the kind of movie Tom Cruise simply excels at...and Mrgan Freeman just added to that, like he does in such movies. Lots of great twists and turns in the plot to keep you engaged and wondering what would happen next. If you enjoy sci-fi action/thrillers, go and see this movie. Very well done.

Re: Movies in General/ Star Trek etc etc

Saw the new star Trek Movie, Loved it! Long time Trek Fan too. There will be a sequel, it has been announced.
Going to see that sequel very soon here in Idaho...very soon!

I like pretty much any sci fi, so long as it has been well thought out to begin with. HUGE Galactica fan also, but then considering my interest in naval aviation and sci fi a series about an aircraft carrier in space was always going to push my buttons!;)
I loved Battle Star Galactica too. You should go see this new Oblivion Movie when you can. Great movie and I believe you will like it.

Also, I am in the second book of a two book series...both about 1600 pages long. Story of about 150 years worth of warfare in spadce. Excellent book...lots of action, well thought out, and very engaging and engrossing. I'll edit this post later today and input the Series name, authors, etc. Been reading it at night on my iPad each evening for the last two months.

Still have "After Earth," and "Elysium," coming out this summer after "Star Trek:Into Darness," in mid-May.

You got me all excited for the new Oblivion movie now. But darn it, I've been so busy lately and haven't had a free weekend in almost a month. Oh well, that's good news at least (to be busy and that more work are coming in) for me.

I always like to say that having too much work is a very good problem to have. It beats the heck out of the problem at the other end of that spectrum.

Going to see Iron Man 3 today. One of my sons saw it opening night (Thursday) and indicates it is very good.

Saw Olympus has Fallen last week and it too was a very good movie. Lots of action...though the hero of the movie was a little "too" good (but ended up shot to hell). Sort of like a new Chuck Norris, LOL!

I went to see IM 3 last evening and I didn't like it that much. The production value is good and so were the effects but I hated the storyline and the 'plot twist'. The armor of IM in some scenes were also absurdly weak while in other scenes it was almost indestructable like it's suppose to!! Tony Stark also spent very little time as IM and more out of the suit than it in which was disappointing as well.

I just came back from watching Iron Man 3... Here's the problem I see with many of these types of movies lately is the antagonist(s) are not worthy opponents. In the Total Recall remake they made a big deal about unleashing this robot army and I didn't find them worthy of being called a threat... certainly to the protagonist at least. I thought Kate Beckinsale's character was more bad-ass than the robots. Same issue with Iron Man 3.

I think I'll check IM3 out just to see what the hype is about. Marvel's biggest box office success to date.
