I hope this movie turns out as good as it looks. The movie was previewed for critics on Friday and apparently is getting positive reviews.

Looks like they put a lot of money into producing this film. Was it a popular comic book series? It looks interesting.

Guardians is one of those comic book titles that is only known by a small minority of comic book fans. I heard a quote like only 1% of comic book fans has ever heard of the Guardians of the Galaxy prior to the announcement of the movie's production. The Guardians also had a very roller coaster ride of success and failure the comic books would be printed for a couple of years then canceled due to poor sales and then years later there would be a come back and new issues made.

I think the Guardians had a run in the early 80s. For me I was introduced to the Guardians during the Infinity Gauntlet War(1990s) after which new Guardians comic books were being made then after a time the series was discontinued. Now they're back again it almost seems the Guardians have a almost decade cycle of appearing and disappearing and in popularity

I think I read somewhere it cost $170 million to make.

I saw a bootleg clip of the extra scene Marvel is notorious for putting in the credits. Someone else from the comic book world shows up. I believe it was just a fun scene they wanted to do and not seriously considering this character being added to the Marvel movie universe. If you've read the rumors of it on the internet of this character showing up, it's true.

The most promising thing about Guardians is that it opens the door to the wider marvel universe introducing the general public to characters like the Kree, the Skrull, Thanos and Galactus

I don't know if you've been able to watch Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. but Agent Coulson comes back from death because of a dead blue alien body S.H.I.E.L.D. had kept in secret. What I've read on the internet was it was the body of a Kree.

To be honest i've been staying away from the Marvel cinematic universe because i felt the avengers films were of poor quality, i don't even follow the current crop of marvel comics.

Most marvel material i have is mostly the old school comics and the fox TASes from the 90s, like Silver Surfer TAS

TE went to the Movies tonight, made it a double feature as that's just the way I roll G.
first up Dwane The Rock Johnson as Hercules. I have to say the Rock's physic helped alot, it was not a great movie but it was a fun movie. With plays right out of Mythology. The movie plays alot with Myth and Fantasy vs reality it milks perception which was smart. And it was more loyal to the original myth and tragedy of Hercules. The classic demigod cursed by his stepmother the Goddess Hera who lashes out due to Zeus's many... Many... Many... Affairs.

In this version Hercules is a Mercenary hired to put a end to a civil war. He and his companions a small mercenary band consisting of Herc, a knife throwing Spartan, a mute barbarian, a hot archer Amazon. A lance wielding suth seer with a death vision and Hercules mostly useless nephew who is mostly his minstrel telling of the legendary 12 trials. The story covers the most impressive of the twelve trials the hydra, the boar, the lion, Cerberus. It covers the Murder of Hercules wife and children. This movie is not for the faint of heart. The myth is graphic and so is the movie leave the youngest at home.
bonus I got to see this movie in a personal screening. The theater was totally empty.

second movie is a classic also based on a myth. Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy grail. If you have never seen this movie you have not laughed in your entire life.

Just came back from watching Guardians of the Galaxy. That was a fun movie! Maybe the most humorous out of the superhero movies. Love the Ravager ship design. That's a beauty you don't see a lot in science fiction movies. The story was typical Marvel movie plot but the fun made up for it. In the end you see Zoe Saldana wearing something to me that looked like a sexy bad girl version of the original Star Trek Federation female uniform especially since she had green skin. I wonder if that was intentional.

Yeah I also saw it last night. Pretty good I'm hopeful that Disney will support this sort of quality as they move forward with the Star Wars universe.
