I know the evidence is thin... but let's not kid ourselves, that balloon was most likely not a mere weather balloon.

Like I said, there's no shame in spying, everybody does it. But try not to get caught, unless getting caught is the intent.
Sure, and Saddam had weapons of mass destruction because the US government said so.

The DPP wouldn't. But what about an unexpected NPP victory?

There's precedence. Mao's declaration of the PRC was not exactly constitutional under the Chinese (ROC) constitution at the time, was it?

The most probable scenario for a Taiwan war is a colour revolution against a KMT president or a similar revolutionary movement. It almost happened before in the "sunflower movement". That's why most of the strategies discussed for such a war are not realistic while people imagine the scenario promoted by the US that China at some point just decides to start a war and attacks without justification.

What China needs is a way to quickly deal with a revolutionary government on Taiwan before it can be recognised by any great power. There may be almost no warning, no preparations to change a forgotten legal document. Countries like Lithuania would rush to be the first country to recognise the new state and try to draw the EU into the fight. The ROC military may support the new government. In such a scenario, bombs will be hitting kinmen on day 1

Recognition or not is really irrelevant to the overall state of affairs, because the US ultimately wants a war to destroy China and have its vassals involved and use any excuse to do so. As such, the moment such a thing happens it will become a fight to the death, and why China needs to decisively demonstrate its ability to overmatch and overcome all said hostiles.

This is the classic case of the conclusion being made before hand, now just need to find/manufacture the evidences to support the claim.

Biden just opened the floodgates on Xi-bashing. If the president can say something like that about Xi, then what can the everyday US congressman get away with?

We're going to see upped vitriol and personal attacks. Every juvenile, racial insult these bullies have used since elementary school.

China needs to respond better, hire some Pro-beijing Hong Kongers with fluent english that can match America's way of talking thrash. The Chinese spokesperson always say something that gets translated to "you hurt the chinese feelings very much" which makes the troll want to troll them more

I think publishing cartoons like the one published during Australia's war crimes row could be a good starting place. That kind of stuff seems to trigger the US and Europe a lot.

I think the best offense China can do is just keep growing and ignore US salami-slicimg provocations that stems from their insecurity and bruised egoism that world no longer revolves around them. What better way to get revenge but by becoming their worst nightmare? An independent, rich, powerful country.

Like just keep on growing. Nobody can screw with 20% of humanity, top 3 land-size, and #1 economy that dwarfs the next guy by 50%. Hence they trying to stir up shit, but even at this point, it's too late, since US can't decouple completely without getting hurt in process.
