The first time I ever came across with this Theo Von guy was when I first got cable TV. His fame came from being on the MTV show Road Rules. He was notorious because he came across being like a hick racist. Funny because he tells the story about when he was younger he and his friends heard there was Asian living in a certain area in the South so because he and his friends never seen an Asian before, they decide to go check it out. They traveled across a few states just to catch a glimpse of an Asian.

2. Western Marxism mainly concerns itself with equal distribution of resources in society, or how to evenly cut the cake. This is probably because their society started with a high baseline. Socialism with Chinese Characteristics is mainly concerned with growing resources, or how to make the cake bigger, probably because of the lower starting baseline in China (the Marxism vs Maoism angle)

3. They don't see eye to eye with CPC because Marxism in the west is mainly an academic exercise, so purity of ideology is important, in an almost religious holy text sort of way. CPC actually has to get its hands dirty running a country under socialist principles and CPC is famously pragmatic which Western Marxist see as unclean (the ivory tower vs barefoot doctor angle)

4. They think China is just straight up authoritarian and just using socialism as window dressing, ruining the good name of socialism. These lot get a lot more push back now from their peers saying they've fallen for the same propaganda that their government use to make China look bad because surprise surprise they live in capitalist countries.

But I think someone made the best comment that it can be summed up in a much simpler way: during the Sino-Soviet Split majority if not all of Western Marxist are on the Soviet side. Seen as Soviet Union failed and PRC is going strong if they embraced Socialism with Chinese Characteristics they will have to admit they were wrong, and people hate to admit they were wrong.

That's why socialist movement in the west is in such a strange state. Due to history they are unable to embrace the one big actual working example of their theory in action. I frankly think an easy mental gymnastic way out for them has already handed to them on a silver platter: just do the Deng thing and say doesn't matter if it's black cat of white cat, if it can catch mouse it's a good cat and be done with all that historical baggage.

It heavily depends on which western marxists you are talking about but I think your third point is the main reason why they don’t like the CPC. Academic marxists are usually heavily compromised and are only interested in critique but not in finding real solutions. Most non-academic western marxists are downstream of this behavior and their living conditions are fairly decent so it doesn’t actually matter. They are also heavily afflicted with Anarchist brainworms most likely from Christianity so they don’t really like any real struggle. They and any derivatives just like the cool revolutionary nature of it and conveniently forget that after you win, there’s a nation to build. I found

Marxists at the time, maybe. The current crop of "Marxists" are just social democrats and radlibs larping as commies; these people will also denounce the USSR, Lenin and Stalin in particular.

They are the stereotypical "actual socialism/communism hasn't been tried yet, the USSR betrayed the socialist movement" but you are correct in that since they come from the capitalist core, they start with a high baseline and think redistributing stuff will do and can't see why the global south need their own path forward, through "authoritarianism" and "state capitalism".

An extension of this last point is that they also completely shut down at the notion that their countries will break down without the exploitation of the global south so thats why are quick to embrace State Dept narrative against these countries. Anything as long as they don't have to actually put in the work.

"Anarchists" are even worse, they are just edgy liberal dipshits in denial.

Which leads me to think the western left should meet the same fate as their libtard brethens, at the tip of a Dongfeng missile.
