Latest 观棋有语 says there's decent chance that the Alaska meeting may not happen as the attitude from US suggest they just want to complain and shit talk China, rather than try to solve any problems.
I mean the US has continued with its aggressive rhetoric against China even days before the meeting so obviously there is not any goodwill here. And China doesn't have a lot to win with the meeting, maybe they want the tariffs dropped but it is political suicide for Biden to do.

China should quit the meeting as a matter of principle, you dont talk with someone so aggressive in rhetoric. However practically it would be good to have some first diplomatic talks to set some rules on the ground, talk the differences and draw red lines

Considering that the USG brain trust thought it a good idea to send their SECSTATE and SECDEF to south korea and japan and not China, as a cheap ploy to "demonstrate their resolve", it would be good to discipline the anglo americans and remind them that they need China more than China needs the anglos.

The fact that Quad+ Japan visit+ HK sanctions all took place in this week shows that US had no intention to carry out fruitful talks.

If China does attend then US will tell the world how they "stood upto" China and threatened more sanctions for HK, Xinjiang, SCS etc . This will gain them domestic points and also win praise from vassal states.

If China skips it then US will cry "Aggressive China skips talks". "China doesn't want peace"

Either way US will make sure it emerges as a "stronger" and more "moral" party in this whole process.

Ultimate intention is to signal all fence sitters in SE Asia and elsewhere that they need to join US alliance against China.

A very personal attack from Biden. It seems Biden will go hard after Russia unlike Trump who focused all his energy on China .

I expect a Sino-Russian military alliance in the near future with the way both countries are being targeted by the West.

Lol thanks Biden. Man democrats must really hate Russians. Well nice for Biden to drive Russia into China's arms

@Kaeshmiri Biden is seeking revenge for the embarrassment it cause him and his son in Ukraine Burisma affair. And also the unfinished colored revolution, they want to take back Donbass and especially Sevastopol Crimea.

The alliance is form when the Power of Siberia pipeline had been laid, that solidify their alliances.

@voyager1 bro the funny thing is the US accused China of intentionally upsetting the US led world order which is wrong, the Americans are the one who wanted to change the rules while the Chinese want to maintain it....LOL. The Chinese wants to negotiate with the US to maintain the status quo.

I often lose sight of that because I work with so many Chinese people who are PhDs with ideas bursting out of their brains. Not only would their contributions help China, their sudden departure from the US would put America in a panic to replace them, often with people who are unqualified.

To become a useful person rather than a self-serving one, training really needs to begin in early childhood. In addition to instilling heroic and unbending values, children must begin their early preparation to study and eventually master a STEM discipline. My parents told me when I was a very young kid, and again and again into my early adulthood that if I could become a useful scientist, my badge of honor would be that I could relocate back to China. If I failed and became a lab tech or some restaurant worker, my parents would buy me a house in the US where I could piss my life away doing easy things... or nothing; it wouldn't matter. The comfort would be the consolation prize to balance the life-long soul-draining disappointment and regret. The resignation and sadness in my father's eyes as he said to me with a faint cold smile, "Then we'll buy you a house here... and you can be comfortable without having to fight for anything," is an expression for which I would complete 100 doctorates and burn down 1,000 houses to ensure that it never became anything more than a flitting moment of discomfort from his imagination.

Meanwhile I have this children's book my wife bought second hand, where they have kids saying what they want to be when they grow up, and there are gems like "I want to be a waitress", or "I want to be a receptionist". :D

Explosive Alaska meeting incoming
“In order to fulfil its selfish interest in containing China’s rise and rejuvenation, Japan has allowed itself to be dependent on the whims of others, to become a strategic vassal of the United States, it has broken the promises it made and trust it gained and harmed Sino-Japanese relations,” Zhao said.

Lmao did he just call Japan, a vassal of the US?

Man this Zhao is impressively spicy, is he reading this forum and he just called Japan basically a slave state? I can just imagine these old men in the Japanese gov fuming right now :D
