This is just your personal perception with the Philippines.

But do you think that if the Philippines were colonized by Protestant Englishmen it would be better than a miniature India? Or Nigeria?

Spanish and Catholic Church rule ended long ago. In fact, the Catholic Church was for a long time an enemy of the US and liberal Zionist Freemasonry. But the church lost after WWII with Italy and France and today is just a story of the past like Europe as a whole.

Those who dominate today are the US, and in addition to the Filipinos and Argentines lackeys, Japanese, British, Germans, Indians and even some liberal Chinese also kneel to the US.
Are you CATHOLIC? your post make sense to a certain degree, but why are you so desperate to dismiss its permanent and virtual strangle hold to countries like the Philippines is silly, and ignorant of the actual reality. The effects of Roman Catholicism is very deep and pervasive in the Philippines where it still influences the political discourse, the political class, the politicians and the people to this day.

Just as they maintain control over India, Nigeria and more than half the world, including muslim countries like Pakistan and Saudi Arabia that see the US kiling Palestinians with Israel and still use the dollar and do nothing against it. It is not a failure only of the Philippines and other former Spanish colonies.

The US dropped the nuclear bombs on Japan and destroyed Vietnam, and yet the Japanese and Vietnamese are also US lackeys today.

If the Philippines were colonized by England or the Netherlands, in the absence of an anti-hegemony leader, it would be the same of today.
LOL... Are you for real?

How bad was the anti-foreign treatment?

I've heard that it's actually gotten quite more open, common, and aggressive in just very recent times. It almost sounds like it's open 'racism' of a sorts. A part of me does not want to believe that Chinese can be like that, but reality is that everyone is human and the last few years have given Chinese all over the world very good reason to just sorta be fed up with foreigners. At least a certain type of foreigner that we all know loves to profess their love of 'freedom' that is.

There were no anti-foreigner sentiments or incidents that we observed. There is nothing like the discrimination and racism minorities experience in the west.

As I said, the only time it was an issue was when we tried to go into a hotel not licensed to serve foreign guests. Which was fair enough as they could have been fined or even had their operating licence revoked if they were caught breaking the rules.

I'm agnostic. And I'm just demystifying this complex that Filipinos and other frustrated descendants of the Spanish colonial past blame the dead for their countries' current problems.

Spanish rule has passed, today the US dominates. Those who are there should question the current leaders and change if they are not happy. But if they only have the courage to attack the dead and are afraid to question the living, then countries like the Philippines will not fix their current problems. In this regard, Filipinos are the same as Indians, who were colonized by the English and are not much different.

And note, even today, there is a greater per capita presence of the Catholic Church in France than in the Philippines.

France is a secular country and has 65 million inhabitants, but has 20,000 priests and 18,000 parishes.

The Philippines has over 100 million inhabitants and only 7 thousand priests and less than 3 thousand parishes.

In terms of presence and cultural impact, the Catholic Church clergy is still stronger in one of the most secular countries in Europe than in the so-called most religious country in Asia.

Statistical source is the official numbers:

The Catholic Church is a white religion that is more present in white countries in Europe and the United States than in Latin America and Asia where the majority of the population is non-white and practices religious syncretism.

I don't understand why you give so much importance to a church that was powerful in the past but is no longer so.

India is allowed a free pass being an ally of the US for conducting killing on American soil. MSM would have gone crazy if it is China. Such double standard and hypocrisy.
