Yup, Japanese restaurants in China are concerned already.

Some Western MSM just refuse to show Beijing's perfectly blue sky - as though we need more evidence that how biased some Western MSM's reports about China can be, often deliberately.

The below is attributable to Spokesperson Matthew Miller:

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken held candid, substantive, and constructive talks today with People’s Republic of China (PRC) State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang in Beijing. The Secretary emphasized the importance of diplomacy and maintaining open channels of communication across the full range of issues to reduce the risk of misperception and miscalculation. The Secretary raised a number of issues of concern, as well as opportunities to explore cooperation on shared transnational issues with the PRC where our interests align. The Secretary made clear that the United States will always stand up for the interests and values of the American people and work with its allies and partners to advance our vision for a world that is free, open, and upholds the international rules-based order. The Secretary and State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin also noted the importance of facilitating exchanges between the people of the United States and the PRC. The Secretary invited State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin to Washington to continue the discussions, and they agreed to schedule a reciprocal visit at a mutually suitable time.

The Secretary’s meetings with PRC officials in Beijing will continue on June 19.
I see 0% chance Blinken meets with Xi tomorrow, at most Wang Yi if Blinken gives concessions to China.

Red carpets are reserved for Heads of states or Presidents... But compared to the welcome Mike Fatty Pompeo got in 2018 visit in aftermath of trade war... definitely a huge downgrade.

You are right that red carpet is not meant for foreign minister. But I don't see how Pompeo got any better treatment in 2018. There were no high ranking Chinese officials meeting him at the airport, usually that would mean the chief of ”Department of North American and Oceanian Affairs“ (美大司).

That's not true, Russian foreign minister Lavrov visiting China was given a red carpet welcome.

Who was the highest Chines official attended in the airport? Definitely not the foreign minister, not a good start.

Perhaps from "a position of strength" ;)
I did not see any Chinese official at the airport except maybe some bureaucrat responsible for hotel sort of things. For a warm welcome of a visiting foreign minister, the one who meets him at the airport would be the chief of the North American and Oceanic affairs (杨涛), who is two rank below Qin Gang. And he isn't there.

MSM is trying to create leverage out of thin air by saying playing down balloon incident and delaying sanctions as friendly gestures. They are kidding themselves. US didn't even pause for more sanctions. It is this kind of delusional which is why no peace or mending of relationship is going to happen. Rednecks think Biden is weak but Americans already used up most of its leverages long time ago.

However, NBC is attacking Biden for being soft on China which is saying most liberals want further escalation. Basically, power brokers behind the scene from both aisles want a full fledged confrontation with China.

That's total theft. As the largest shareholder, Sinochem can actually exercise none of its rights

Italy strips China’s Sinochem of its influence as Pirelli’s largest investor

Rome removes right to appoint chief executive or set strategy because of worries about Chinese state interference

Restrictions:
No CEO appointment right
The government’s order, which has been seen by the Financial Times, gives Camfin — the private investment vehicle of Pirelli chief executive Marco Tronchetti Provera, which owns 14 per cent of the company — the indefinite right to appoint the chief executive.

No M&A involvement, sales etc
Sinochem, which owns its stake through China National Rubber Company, will also be barred from involvement in decisions about Pirelli’s “mergers and acquisitions, sales, spin-offs or listings of financial instruments”, according to the order.

Italians are actually merciful. China should thank them instead
A senior Italian official familiar with the case described Rome’s intervention as “minimal”, in light of the possibility that the government could have ordered Sinochem to reduce its shareholding in Pirelli or even sell out completely.
“I think they will be relieved to learn that their shares haven’t been touched,” the official said, noting that Sinochem also retains its representation on Pirelli’s board.

More restrictions:
It has also told Pirelli to refuse any requests from China’s state-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, including for information sharing. The two companies will also have to keep their treasury and cash pooling functions separate.
Sinochem has been ordered to refrain from any intervention that might suggest Pirelli’s decisions are “a consequence of impositions” from Beijing.
