Actually the US has demonstrated the extraterritoriality of its laws, so we can even expect Chinese law enforcement arresting "Free Tibet"/"Free Uighr"/"Free Taiwan" activists in 3rd countries-bonus points if they happen to be CIA.

Now this is news worthy. Particularly to those members here still harping on about Taiwan defacto independence BS.

This speaks columns as Spain return "Chinese" citizens for trial for crimes committed in "China's soil". Oh diplomatic speak , because crime was committed against Chinese citizens. Lol.

China jails 29 Taiwanese deported from Spain for fraud

BEIJING (Reuters) - A Beijing court sentenced 29 people from Taiwan who had been deported from Spain to up to 14 years in jail on Thursday for telecoms fraud, part of a series of deportations decried by Taiwan as an abuse of human rights.

In recent years, hundreds of Taiwanese suspected of telecom fraud have been deported to China, sometimes forcibly, from countries including Kenya, Cambodia and Armenia, according to Taiwan’s government.

China has defended the deportations, saying they were suspected of defrauding Chinese people and so should be tried in Chinese courts.

In the latest judgement, a Beijing court ruled that the suspects had defrauded people living in China by calling them from their base in Spain and claiming to be Chinese law enforcement officials, the court said in a statement.

A total of 14 victims were defrauded out of more than 6.17 million yuan ($941,985), it said.

Ericsson CEO Lobbied to Overturn Sweden’s Huawei Ban, DN Reports

View attachment 67095

Bloomberg didn't report all the detail. There are some big detail regarding this matter and this Ericsson CEO, Börje Ekholm really has gone so far to help Huawei.

"According to the magazine, he is the CEO of Ericsson Börje Ekholm sent by the Minister of Commerce Anna Hallberg text messages in which he threatened the company to leave Sweden unless the port ban on Huawei and ZTE was lifted."
“I still hope for help from Sweden and that our presence in the country will be appreciated,” Ekholm wrote in one of his messages.
"Hallberg according to the government could not intervene because the decision was made by the Swedish Police and Telecommunications Administration PTS on the basis of a recommendation from the Security Police Säpo and the Defense Forces."
“Hi Anna, I appreciate the work you have done, but right now it seems that Sweden is a very bad country for Ericsson,” he wrote.
"Stockholm’s messages show that Ericsson has tried to hire lawyers to help Huawei in the lawsuit."

“It’s interesting to note that while we’ve talked to several Swedish law firms, no one wants to go out and help Huawei. Unfortunately, there are a lot of cowards, ”Ekholm disapproves.
“I don’t understand how a government official can have a mandate to make a decision that threatens to hamper Sweden’s relations with foreign countries,” Ekholm wondered.

The most ridiculous part of what Hallberg said is the following:
Hallberg: "according to the government could not intervene because the decision was made by the Swedish Police and Telecommunications Administration PTS on the basis of a recommendation from the Security Police Säpo and the Defense Forces."

She said that as if the Swedish Police, PTS, Säpo and Defence forces are not part of government. If they are not, then what is left to be part of government? This is typical of politician dodging responsibilities. The last time that this so-called "government" did was when the PM refused to make decisions about COVID-19 against the recommendations of the stupid and incompetent CDC chief using the same excuse, now see what a hell hole that has led Sweden to be in.

To me it seems more like she meant: "It's a national security issue, not a business issue, so I can't do anything as the Minister of Commerce"

But why would defence forces have a say in this regard?
Very basis of banning Huawei was that it has connection with state power.
Now we have countries that whose defence forces are deciding what to ban & what not to ban. Isn't that odd?

The big man Ericsson CEO did right on retort to her by saying:

"I don’t understand how a government official can have a mandate to make a decision that threatens to hamper Sweden’s relations with foreign countries”
Looks to me this man Börje Ekholm more suitable to lead the country's ministry of commerce.
