I don't quite understand why he is trying to "help" Huawei?
Not really helping, but rather being afraid of possible retaliatory measures from Chinese government. If Ericsson is eating Huawei and ZTE's pie in Sweden, Ericsson should give its pie (in China) to Huawei and ZTE. Nobody can get fair treatment if Chinese companies are not treated fair, this is what I have suggested "squeezing" some companies particularly like Qualcomm to get back for Huawei and ZTE. Nobody should eat the bread soaked by China's blood (人血馒头).

Understandable from Japanese perspective though. Would you want a dominant US that’s far away, or a dominant China right next door.
Not really; it would be a very stupid and short-sighted way for Japan to see it like that. They should look at the big picture: do they want to live in a world that sees Asians as being superior or inferior to Caucasians?

Inferior. Every since they got nuked and forced to surrender by the Emperor they became a Stockholm Syndrome country.

They would be forced to live under the shadow of China. A country 10x larger in size and population.

America maintains a hegemony in South America. How do you think those small Latin American countries are treated by the US.

Realistically, how do you think Japan will be treated under a Chinese hegemony in Asia.

For japan, Vietnam, etc.. it’s better to have an “emperor” that’s far away than an “emperor” right next door

Well they send 11 tributary delegation to China under Ming dynasty and the relation was cordial under Qing and Tokugawa So what to complain. It is only under Meiji that Japan turn belligerent on China because she copy western colonialism big mistake that now they have to live with
Chinese hegemony is writing on the wall The Japanese elite better wake up and smell the coffee or they be left isolated. The Japanese business circle already vote with their money an invested heavily in China

Hi Petrolicious88,

It will be okay under a Chinese hegemony, China had returned to its former glory just like in ancient times. Look it had endure and is okay with a rich Japan in a hegemonic US era. Everybody adjust, it's the mind frame that need to change. I think all the nation that you mention signing off RCEP is acknowledging a fait accompli.

They will be treated business like, win-win situations, i pay you money you give me the product and vice versa, nothing more nothing less as it always has been
There will be no monroe doctrine in asia, thats only for white supremacist anglo imperialists
China does not interfere in other countries internal affairs
And by the way China rise is unstoppable so the japanese better start learn to live with it, just as China accepted being encircled by us military bases next door

Well, Canadians want the US to be the world hegemon, not China, and it's fine living under the shadow of a colossus next door. But Mexico could care less. Difference is that Canadians are Caucasian and aren't viewed as inherently inferior by the globally dominant race while Mexicans are discriminated against for not being Caucasian. I don't think China would treat Japan terribly at all if China became the world's strongest nation as long as Japan established friendly or even non-hostile relations with it. China wouldn't even make the terms difficult because for a new superpower like China, to continuously harm or "beat" a small, non-hostile nation for the past is pointless and petty. Japan is not big enough to be China's target as long as it lays aside its own hostilities; China will allow it to bow and move on so China can focus on keeping the US from resurging. If Japan was smart, it would think like that instead of grasping at the scraps given to them by a Western master. Japan, and the rest of Asia, could be China's team in brining the center of the world to Asia and making Asians the new most admired race. Competent countries like Japan and Korea could serve as China's right hand men. Of course, there is decades of Western brainwash, worship, and fear to overcome before certain Asian countries can evolve to see that type of big picture.

I always wonder about japan their lost decades is directly the result of plaza accord that was forced upon them and they still hold no grudges and still worship their american master
Their brainwashing and self hate is on another level
