In Chinese, Chinese new year is just called the spring festival: 春節 and it would be more accurate for English speakers to call it the Spring Festival.

In SE Asia south of Indochina it is called Chinese new year or Nongli new year. Since these countries are in the tropics, spring is more an abstract concept. Recent years English press started to call it Spring Festival. I tend to think of it as adopting the term used in China, instead of attempt to de-emphasize the word Chinese, but maybe I assume too much good faith on the part of presstitutes.

Macron needs to act since the Germans stole a march on him with the state visit late last year.
This is how you play the west against each other and away from your walls, as previous imperial dynasties did with barbarian hordes, be it Roman, Byzantine or Chinese. But the Americans really did most of the heavy lifting, in their greed to steal European market share, the rest of Europe had decided enough was enough.

Also, you know inflation is bad when you come across no less than several TikToks about how unaffordable everything is now:

Engineers get paid pretty much the same as humanities in the UK?
