Someone just sent me a piece of news that perfectly represents everything wrong with Japan and new energy vehicle and how they are stuck in the past:

Top-to-bottom: Original AE86, Hydrogen-refit, Electric-refit.

The biggest problem would be weight distribution. The original AE86 has its rear compartment empty, which makes the rear-end lighter. Now that the refit versions would have the rear-end being weighted down as well, those drivers are gonna have to change their ways and methods of how to drive these cars... especiallly if they are doing racing and drifting with these.

If Toyota wants a hydrogen and/or electric version of the AE86, they should have just redesign the model from scratch.

Are they serious or is this just made-up crap from the notoriously anti-China Business Insider? Are they trying give Russians the idea that the Varyag is Russian territory like Ukraine so Russia goes to war with China over an abandoned unfinished carrier?
Someone in the Russian Duma did suggest this, but I wouldn't call it a serious suggestion.

PLAN isn't in the market to sell Liaoning now, but down the line when they have enough CATOBAR carriers getting rid of Liaoning and Shandong somehow isn't out of question. That is a long long way away though and the rest of the proposal:

Karginov, a member of Russia's right-wing Liberal Democratic Party, suggested the repurchased Liaoning be renamed after party leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky and be made the new Black Sea Fleet flagship.
I don't think those bits are serious, although personally Liaoning (sorry, Vladimir Zhirinovsky) transiting the Bosphorus under her own power to return to Nikolaev has a nice ring to it.

The proposal came out a while ago and there's been (not very serious) discussion on Chinese social media too. Dabao (the guy that does all those PLA CGs) suggested instead of just the carrier PLAN sell them a whole CSG to go with it and even drew up the ships he recommends:

All seven ships (Liaoning + 2 x 051C + 4 x Sovremenny ) will be all steam turbine and a lot of the weapon systems are Russian to begin with.

I'm not sure dumping seven steam turbine ships on the Russian are a good idea: on the one hand they're pretty terrible at maintaining those, on the other hand maybe with 7 of them they will have to shape up and get serious about it.

Eh, wasn't it popular because it was (relatively) cheap and still able to do stupid stuff? Then again, thanks to them memez, AE86s nowadays are stupid expensive anyway, so I guess it evens out.

Honestly, if money and import law weren't in the way, I'd rather get my hands on a GR Yaris. At least GR Yaris is (sort of) a WRC homologation special (possibly the last one ever), instead of just memes.

Well, if Initial D was to be believed (lmao), you want rear-axle loading. It's an RWD car after all. I'm sure actual racing car drivers can cope with the CG change.

The problem is that both of them are hilariously underpowered. The racing car driver doing the promotion literally said it in the official promo video. The tech, unfortunately, just isn't there yet.

It probably already is.

Didn't Australia propose to import cats to fight rats a few years ago. It seems like the issue of rats hasn't been fixed.

It's the rain, Australia's been having a very wet few years which leads to lots of food for rodents to grow and prosper. There are videos of the mouse plagues which are quite literally blankets of them at night.

Imported cats are also happier to munch on local native wildlife rather than mice, which is itself causing a bit of a ecological disaster.

It's a bit of a recurring theme in Australia (cats, foxes, horses, cane toads and rabbits) for imported wildlife to destroy native wildlife rather than address the problems they were trying to solve.
