I think Trudeau is doing some wordplay here.I also don't get why he came out today. Let's assume he's not lying about the fact that he was lying earlier, ie he really didn't receive any briefing and was talking shit to Xi. Surely the smart thing for him to do now is to lie low and wait for this to blow over in the media?
Him owning up today must have been forced by something, either the money class or some higher power.
Nov 7th: Original China interference hoax with sources by CIA (Canadian Dept) published by Global News right before G7.
Opposition parties start attacking him since his party won the 2019 election.
Nov 15th: Trudeau met Xi for 10 mins informal chat and publishes a Prime Minister's Office readout (wtf kind of diplomacy is this?)
Trudeau raised concerns about that China covertly funded 11 candidates in the 2019 federal election.
Trudeau probably regurgitated some line about how Canada takes democracy seriously and has media freedom. He probably exaggerated it into confronting the Chinese about election interference and wrote that in the government readout to act tough for domestic brownie points. The readout does not say how Xi reacted to any of these issues, only that the two leaders "discussed the importance of continued dialogue."
Nov 16th: Xi teaches Trudeau a lesson about proper diplomacy and the importance of honesty. This famous scene is captured by a Global News reporter and spread on twitter. The PMO deletes the previous day's Trudeau and Xi meeting readout.
Nov 20th: Trudeau says he was never briefed by Canadian Intelligence over this hoax.
